£84.97 in store.

I needed a pressure washer and after deciding a budget of £100 max I went for this as the reviews were good. I must say I'm impressed so far, I have been using it for about 3 hours for patio and decking etc... One handy feature is that you can use a large bucket or waterbutt like the Karchers do which is handy for the car and the environment It comes with a 2 year guarantee and a support helpline.

The spec:

Features - (G): Wheeled for ease of use and features on board storage and cable tidy for easy storage, flow rate 330 litres/hour, 160 bar maximum pressure, pressure adjustable lance - allows you to alter the level of water pressure to suit the task.
Includes: Standard, extension and pressure adjustable lances. Car wash brush and patio cleaner.
Model number: Q1W-SP15-1900
Power: 2000W

The only thing I'm not sure about is spare parts and compatability. It's not a Karcher but neither is the price

I couldn't find any voucher codes that worked for this(PW15 didnt work for me), so settled for topcashback at 2.1%

My experience of these cheap washers is they soon fall to bits. Not worth the money. Have had two fail within months over the years when used for washing horse stables out. Even the replacements under warranty gave up the ghost.

Out of interest what do you use now?

£109.99 would get you this.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nilfisk-C130-X-Tra-Pressure-Washer/dp/B006UCKWAA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461348924&sr=8-1&keywords=nilfisk+130

The Nilfisk has a higher working pressure @115 bar vs the Qualcasts 110 bar. The flow rates are vastly different too....330 vs 440 l/h.

For £25 more you're getting better build quality and more importantly, an induction motor which is quieter and will cope well with prolonged, intensive use. Nilfisk pressure washers also have aluminium pumps... typically the cheaper pressure washers use plastic pumps.

Looks like Homebase specs are wrong, on the box the Qualcast says max water flow 450 litres per hour and max pressure 160 bar which makes more sense as its 2000w vs 1700w. I have never used a Nilfisk so can't really comment on build quality, both look okay to me

The "160 bar max pressure" is only what the Qualcast produces when it's initially turned on. It can't maintain it, hence the 110bar "working pressure" stated in the specs. The nilfisks max pressure is 130bar and the working pressure is 115bar.... the difference is minimal but the Nilfisk still edges it. It's the induction motor that is the big plus for the Nilfisk, which is far superior to the cheap, universal brush motor in the Qualcast

Good to know, can the Nilfisk take water from a waterbutt or bucket?

Looks good value to me for the spec and much cheaper than Argos :

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3058767.htm

With a 2 year guarantee and a local Homebase to return it to if any problems I vote hot !

It looks like it has same fitment as Bosch for accessories so you can probably get adaptors for using other brand accessories.

I believe so but check the manual to be certain.

Surely water from a water butt is going to be dirty/gritty? That won't do the machine any good, or whatever you're cleaning!

The qualcast has a filter that unscrews, I also use a filter on the hosepipe to make sure and it works fine. Karcher have been doing this for a while. Handy as you can use it during a hosepipe ban

It's basically the same pressure washer found at Aldi (if there are any left) but Aldi will give you a 3 year guaranty. The Aldi one has slightly more recent build, all from 2016 manufacturing runs, though they are essentially the same if you look at them in detail side by side. The Qualcast one is not made by Qualcast, Bosch is allowing the company that owns Argos and Homebase to use the name under licence.
Having had both the Aldi and the Nilfisk 130 1800w, I would say the Aldi one is a bit more powerful. The Aldi one feels like a £180 plus equivalent Kartcher in terms of quality and features.
I kept the Nilfisk in the end because it's more compact - have a little shed.

Top of the range Karsher - faultless owned it for 10 years and never misses a beat. Near top end model though 'semi commercial'. Cannot speak for their low end models though.

Yeah we have a leaking Karcher with the plastic pump... Mind you it's well over 20 years old I think?

I know it's more money, but an end-of-line, very good quality Karcher with solid pump, all the attachments and 5 year warranty is available from quite a few Wickes stores:

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Karcher-K4-Pressure-Washer-Premium-Eco-Home-130-Bar/p/104109

With 10% "trade" discount, about £180 all in.

Thats good to know. I have a nilfisk but not sure that has a filter.

I'm using a Nilfisk 110. Run it continuously for 4 hours cleaning paving with no problems. Wash the car with warm water even though that's not advised and still going strong. had it for 6 minths now. hope it won't give up on me any ime soon. metal pump. solid. around £90 I paid for it. plus you don't really need more than 100 bar pressure for home use to be fair... it's just boys and toys

plus if it last for 20 car washes you've got your investment back tbh...

bosch took over qualcast years ago hence how the products sort of have the same look, qualcast themselves are a well known brand although more for lawnmowers etc. bosch signed a deal with homebase/argos to produce qualcast products for them, ok it may not be just as good quality as a bosch maybe not exactly the same parts, but having a 2 year warranty shows some faith in the build meaning any issues then go get a replacement. good washer great price for what you get.

.

I don't think this is a Bosch made or a Qualcast made, pressure washer. Home Retail Group sourced the washer from China, and have a deal with Bosch to slap the name Qualcast on certain products they source cheaply from China.
Bosch put out something about how to tell whether a Qualcast product bought at homebase and Argos was in fact a Bosch/Qualcast made item, or an item made from a 3rd party in China on behalf of HRG with the Qualcast name stuck on under licence

Purchased this two days ago to clean an Indian sandstone patio and large decking area and wow. Patio and decking came up light new. Delighted with the results and for the price it's a bargain imo. Might not be a Karcher or Nilfisk but done what unwanted it to do perfectly and comes with all the tools to.
