Yes I just saw the Asda deal when searching to see if this had already been posted. Looks like Asda have a few others as well.

Price still showing £5 in eastbourne

£5 in northern ireland.

Deal started today so I would guess some instore labels need to be changed. Click through on the deal to see the tesco webpage.

If they make these tins of sweets any lighter they will have to put a brick on top ;-)

Yes picked up two this pm and there were loads in Edmonton store.

good find :-)

also, these tubs keep shrinking every year

Asda had all tins for £4 tonight.
Roses,heroes,QS,The Lot.

these used to be £5 for 1kg tins now they are 820g tins, so there isn't a saving at all. just good marketing strategy.

Sadly the far superior Celebrations and Heroes are still £5

Wish they still sold the tins as 1.5kg like they used to as a fiver, but hay hoy, got myself a tin, hot deal

When you do get them now they are just full or orange cremes anyway.

They once had a reputation that does not exist anymore.

Total waste of money IMHO.

greedy ****...blaming rising cocco prices...mars and snickers now smaller!

These just get smaller and smaller every time I see them..Just not worth buying now!

no cheaper than Waitrose esp if you ahve a waitrose card and get a further 10% off!
That's why tesco have belatedly reduced their prices beacuase of the competition.....

We should swap tins then, I never seem to get enough of them.

This is bordering on cold (but not quite). Asda and Tesco are selling (metal) tins with around 200g less than last year. I still have a couple of last year's tins and they were 1kg. I bought one of these tubs the other day and am quite shocked to see how much less is in there for the same price.

:O I hope my local has those.

I may start a war with this comment, but I miss the coffee cremes.

Are you sure your tins were from last year? If so they must be the 'big' ones as the standard QS hasn't been 1kg for (I think) two years. Last year: Quality Street - 820g, Roses - 850g, Celebrations - 855g, and Heroes - 800g.

Four years ago they were all 1kg. And before that 1.2kg while the big tins were 2.2kg. Now the big tins are not much more than 1kg. I could go on and on..

With you on that score :-(

Even large tins of sweets don't last long in our house!:)

£4 for a tin of toffee's. I'll stick with Roses!

yeah same old thieving tesco tactics

I think I'd rather the ASDA £2 offer on the half-tub-size Celebrations to be honest. At least then you have to option of buying multiple smaller boxes rather than the mega-tempting tub. Better for those with limited self control who want the chocolates to last into the new year!

£4 at Asda, and they do Celebrations, Roses & Miniature Heroes.

It's all very well to complain about the reducing sizes, but there has been a lot of volatility in the cocoa market since at least 2007. Between 2007 - 2010 cocoa prices doubled globally, and then in 2010 a huge amount of the world's supply was bought up:

http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/07/18/europes-entire-cocoa-supply-bought-out-analysts-suspect-market-cornering/

It's widely understood within the industry that this was NOT purchased by the big companies (Kraft, Nestle, etc.) but is being held by a group of investors who are controlling the market. It's very easy to lambaste the food brands and supermarkets for greed, but in reality most companies are lucky to be making even 5% profit margins. Couple that with the terrible agricultural yields of the last two years and the problems in the Euro and the food market is having a tough old time at the moment.

If you want the bigger size - buy two. There's nothing anyone can do about the price of chocolate right now!

Either way we get duped. This is the same for the tax increase, petrol increase, green taxes (how the **** that's green I will never know) Food price increases, household fuel increase, electric increase. All controlled by the same people wanting to bleed us dry. So yes I'm peeved there only 820g bohoo chocolate giants, you stingy bar stewards.

People on about that they used to be more in there. Well in Tesco they have a 1.25kg for £9 so clearly the 850g is value for money!

Absolutely 100% certain they are from last year. They were bought in either Asda or Tesco - probably one from each

Ok thanks for confirming. I assume they must be big tins as the standard QS tin was the same weight last year as it is this year.

Overly sugary orange or strawberry cremes, left till last in the tub toffee pennies, toffee fingers and toffee deluxe...Quality Street just give us a tin full of hazelnut triangles, coconut eclairs, milk chocolate blocks, orange crunch and the hazelnut with caramels.
