I have to agree with you about that - if you don't want to eat meat, fair enough. But why pretend you are ??

One of my daughters went veggie sometime ago and she likes her pretend bacon (yuk), quorn sausages and this type of quorn products. I have tried quorn pieces in a stir fry and found it to be edible, but not a patch on chicken etc - I don't think I or the rest of my family will be going veggie any time soon.

man i had some quorn lamb burgers, seriously i dunno what the hell it tasted like
went straight in the bin, just eat the damn meat!!!

invented by ICI this is the scrapings of Mucus off fungi, ill stick to battery chicken thanks en.wikipedia.org/wik…orn

Lol, I think I posted something like this a while ago, im not a vege, but I think eating vege stuff can be more healthy. But yes, this is some sort of funghi, and to be honest, it bloody tastes and looks like it lol!

I would agree, eat the meat, or stick to vegetable and salad lol, which I prefer anyway!

Taste bad..good price

The poor chickens.....feeling all left out.

This stuff is bad "smell and taste" , also alot of people are allergic to it .

Some of the vegetarian food can taste quite close to meat.

Quorn food can also be more healthy than meat. If you are vegetarian and have the urge for a sausage you can do it without having to murder a factory hen. (although it will still probably be killed anyway)

I have been vegetarian 12 years and a lot of the quorn products actually taste rather nice! Just because a vegetarian does not want to eat an animal doesn't mean they don't enjoy the taste of meat! (heck I loved the taste from what I remember)

I guess the designers made the food look like the meat counterpart just so people can identify it.

I eat Quorn cause its low fat, high fibre and good source of protein. However this is the worst variety imho by far. It tastes like fungus should!

Ive been eating sausages for years and not once have I had to 'murder a factory hen' to do it.

Well I am not a veggie but I guess it would have something to do with the fact that they like the taste of meat but can't bear to eat something that has been slaughtered???

Think outside the box ;-)

Rather than repeat myself I will answer this perennial question by pasting a previous reply, from a previous quorn deal.

cheapo;5266681

This argument that 'I don't understand why they make vegetarian food look … This argument that 'I don't understand why they make vegetarian food look like meals that have meat in' is so f'ing stupid.Ok, when was the last time you saw a pig made up of cylindrical sausages? How about a cow comprised of pasties? Ooh mummy, look at that chicken, its like a nugget with wings! There is no monopoly on certain shapes of foodstuff having to have dead animal in them. Did I miss an 11th commandment?Sausages, pies, pasties, rolls, are all man made constructs to hold food. It doesn't have to be meat. They are mere vessels to present food in a convenient manner. Just because a vegetarian decides not to eat meat does not mean they have to throw out every other convention including shape and portion size. We do not do it because we are secretly salivating over meat. We do it out of convenience. Now you have the exception. There are cuts of meat that vegetarians try and replicate, like bacon for instance. So the argument would have more weight there. But, even bacon is a modification of the meat as it fits on the pig. The rashers do not peel off individually, they have to be cut and shaped in a way that is convenient and pleasing to the eater. What is wrong with making the shape of food palatable? My next book will be 'Beef crisps: why do they try and make them taste like beef when they have no meat in them?'

What shape and taste would you like my food to be until you shut up, and go back to ploughing your way through thousands of slaughtered sentient beings (you know them things that have babies in fields, and live like families until you decide that you want a lamb kebab), even though most on here would not dream of actually killing the things themselves.

Since when do chicken pieces look like chickens? They don't, they look like small portions palatable for human being. Do you rebel against cheese & onion pasties in the same way because the ones you like have beef in?

When people stop making that facile argument 'why do they do it, if they don't want to eat meat', then I will stop pasting my previous reply.

Boring!

the cardoard packaging tastes better

Good post, hopefully this will stop the retarted/repetetive question "why do vegetarians want there food to looks and taste like meat"

These are tasteless, however the mince is fine in a Chilli and the Swedish meatballs are terrific with pasta taste better than meat ones.

all of this negativity in the forums... yet the heat is massive??? This is counter-intuitive...

I personally like Quorn and I choose to eat it. I like the fact that it tastes like meat, but the texture is different and I know I won't get grissle or a bit of eye or a baw! It's low in fat and high in protein and I know I haven't advocated the slaughter of countless animals in my quest for food.

the warm feeling of not having caused the slaughter of innocent animals....only the use of eggs from battery hens. That's self-delusion.

You live in an industrialised world and live a comfortable live, you too contribute to the downsides of that industrialisation - whatever you eat, wear or drive.

Well said, sadly I'm sure it won't stop the idiots who assume chickens are born nugget shaped and cows are born hamburger shaped.

The 'Why do veggies want their food to look like meat' comment on every veggie deal is extremely repetitive and boring. As are the idiots who just HAVE to post some comment about how much they love meat in every veggie deal.

this is forum regarding good deals, it helps direct people to purchase items they usually buy or would like to buy at the best prices known by people using this site. so if you a veggie or you just like quorn then great this is useful, vote it hot if you like it, don't bother if you just don't understand other peoples reasoning behind wanting to satisfy the carnivorous teeth we all have, without causing the unnecessary death of a living creature, you don't like people voicing their veggie opinions on your thoughtlessly eating hormone pumped, antibiotic fed, forced cannibalistic meat products often containing mystery body parts, majority lips, **** holes, eyelids and partially cleaned **** tracts. maybe veggies aren't so dumb as some people seem to think!

I'm voting this hot. My missus and I are big fans of Mexican food, especially fajitas. Unfortunately, she's a vegetarian so I'd need to make 2 separate meals if I wanted to have real meat.

This stuff is brilliant for fajitas, as the texture's almost exactly the same as chicken and in all honesty you cant taste chicken once it's been marinaded in the fajita spices anyway.

This is less than half the price it is in Tesco, so hot from me!

Self delusion, my friend, is doing nothing because we know we cannot live a life absent from blame.

How about compromise instead of absolutes, eh?

I choose not to eat meat, but know I come into contact with meat eaters, and benefit from their help in all manner of ways. I know there is culpability in all of us (that live in this western industrialised world), it is just that some of us try in small ways to do less damage.

Saying that, if I was starving to death, the first thing I would chomp into would be your neck.
