How do Rabcompare to the Montane , Mountain Warehouse , Berghaus versions …How do Rabcompare to the Montane , Mountain Warehouse , Berghaus versions ???

You’d wear Rab up to top of Everest.
You’d wear Montane in the Alps.
You’d wear Berghaus up Snowdon.
You’d wear Mountain Warehouse to go upstairs in your house.

Simplified I know, but explains the brands I suppose.

I think we can be confident that this isn't aimed at the fashion segment of the market.
Rab jackets very rarely fall below £150, even in the awful colours 😁 Have some heat!

Is that why so many people wear Rab in our cities?

Brand name hijacking, they saw the name and thought they'd be cool if they wore it. Personally I can't wear my Rab around town as I'd die of heat exhaustion! I have one with ventilated sides for active stuff that I can get away with but not a down one. Even my cheapo craghoppers down is plenty warm enough on UK streets with just a tshirt and waterproof shell.

You can wear it where you like. But quality and usage wise, you wouldn’t go up Everest in Mountain Warehouse gear.
North Face stuff has morphed into fashion wear due to brand hijacking.

be honest, how many of us are going up Everest?

that's ace .. best explanation I could wish for .cheers Oh and I presume North Face if down the pub with a few 'chavs' ?
Handy if you want to look like rusty bubble wrap
Patagonia is the same in the US, just worn by preppy types. I end up wearing my insulated jackets day to day as I so rarely get out hill walking now

Can't believe nobody has liken this to the old hot water tank jackets of yesteryear - same colour and everything

Not bad. Decent fill power but not a huge amount of it. Seem jackets with far more weight of fill but overall id say a good deal.

btw i think Rab is no where near as good as it was 5-10 years ago. I get winter gear for working in northen sweden and the newer stuff is alot more expensive for high FP but low weights of fill.

Have one. Within a month the hood plastic wore through the fabric. Never washed, never abused. Things ain't how they used to be with Rab stuff.

Seems to be the way with a lot of outdoor brands.
Probably better off with 'vintage' outdoor clothing as things used to be made properly. Now it's price first, brand second and quality last.
What about patagonia,?

Yes, the Patagonia Nano is a great alternative...and whilst you will probably never see much Patagonia on HotUKDeals, they do have a better company ethos and their products really do stand the test of time, so still good value for money!
