His parents had the ingenious idea of filming him... opening toys. And furthermore... playing with toys.

Kids love it. Meanwhile, life makes less and less sense to me. I’m old and scared.

Imagine the most annoying child you can. Add in a set of parents just as bad, YouTube and profiteering. That's Ryan's World.

then the toy companies had the ingenious idea of supplying the toys for Ryan's parents to give to Ryan to open, in an insidious move to advertise to children without having to create actual adverts. our kids then stumble upon these videos and consume them. the toy companies, Ryan's parents, and YouTube laughing all the way to the bank.

the fact that this hasn't been tackled by the Advertising Standards Authority blows my mind.

In 10 years time he'll be an ex-child-star drug-addict appearing on the Oprah show... this make me feel better anyway.
Heat for the find.

Time ticking on child influencers though as I read that videos featuring children couldn’t be monetised under new rules.

I think the whole unregulated advertising on YouTube is disgraceful but everyone seems scared to tackle it.

Parents profiteering from their children.

It started as a kid in opening/playing with various toys saying if he liked it or not.

Now it is a cottage media industry, focused around advertising their own brand of junk (and it is junk, my grandson has some of the garbage). With his parents who milk it for all they can, it is now literally watch Ryan play with Ryan toys and the parents saying "Parents, you can buy Ryan's World Toys at....." It's advertisement dressed up as a kids show.

It has zero entertainment value, yet kids seem to go mad for it.

They have those poor kids in front of a camera every day of their lives. Yes they make bank, they have gone from a small flat/house to building their own McMansion on the money. But they have turned their kids into a business, no better than those parents who aggresively push their kids into showbiz to make them money.

It's kind of sad, those kids do not know a day without a camera in their face.

And £40 is the reduced price. They were originally £50!

Funnily enough, my grandson bought one today (it was his birthday money), I was not impressed. 1 vehicle thing (smaller than a Paw Patrol vehicle) 2 small "action" figures to go with the bloody thing, some pound shop silly putty, a parachute Ryan (the kind you threw down the stairs as a kid and it would float down) and a 'Red Titan' face mask.

Oh and a huge amount of wasteful plastic packaging.

£40! Disgusting.

EDIT: In fact, here is the toy next to the packaging it came in

It's not a toy for kids that want a toy, it;s a toy to be reacted to/unboxed on Youtube

I got my lad one last xmas and he played with it for 15mins thats it, crazy how much they cost. Id be surprised if it cost more tham £5 to produce.

It was also his birthday 2 weeks ago he had some money to spend in smyths, he went straight to Ryans World toys asking for an egg (we said no)

I've seen the video of them opening their own egg and they make it look really exciting, when in reality its trash

Same, up and down all the aisles in Smyths, past the switch games (we bought him a Switch for his birthday), past the Lego, past all the action figures, beeline to this junk.

Well, like you, he has had one now. If he sees the value in it is another thing, we hope he does, but next time it will be like you "NO!", no more money wasted on overpriced pound shop junk.
