If you’re going to buy the reference style blower get the asus one, you can get £40 cash back and £25 for leaving a review
This is a very good frying pan for doing eggs. No kidding.
Nope. Stay away from the 5700xt. We got one a few days ago (gigabyte 3 fan-jobby).

It got so hot, the computer just powered off after about 30 mins use.

We exchanged it for a MSI RTX 2070 Super.

Yes, its more expensive, but it's flawless. Money spent, so I can save time in diagnosis.

Sorry, I love the idea of these 5700xt, that's why I bit. However, the difference between AMD and Nvidia is palpable.

I can just imagine how annoyed the thousands and thousands of people all over the world who own the 5700xt must be only able to play games for 30 minutes a night... Has it been on the BBC news yet about a recall of this card?

Went for the MSI Ventus 2070 Super. Amazing bit if kit. Paired with a Ryzen 5 can do RDR2 4k highest setting, at around 36-40fps average. My boy's ecstatic.

Well, that was my experience anyway, others may be ok. Just giving factual information.

Shutting down sounds more like a power draw issue, than a temp. issue.

From a brand new EVGA 600W PSU?

Playing CS:GO?

I'm not sure - but it was boiling hot.

The CPU is being liquid cooled and was at a nice 45°

Changing the card has solved the problem - in our experience
Those having issues with the 5700XT often need to do a full display driver wipe and ensure they aren't daisy chaining cables from their PSU. That being said there's no way I'd use one of these with the stock cooler, very loud and still hot. Undervolting may save you if you get one with a good ASIC quality.

If your on about gigabyte rx 5700 xt OC I had it for 2 weeks and sent it back I didn't have thermal issues but the drivers were dreadful performance was the same as my rx Vega 56 so I to am looking to get a rtx 2070 super

We did that too (with DDU).

I figured - having spent that much, a little more, meaning no more fettling, is good for me.

I have no desire to undervolt or play around much.

The card's backplate, when shutting down was too hot to touch.

Not for us.

Yep, that's the one.

Couldn't comment on the drivers.

The 2070 super is a blooming good card.

Happy days man I've just ordered the 2070 Super X Trio as i wanted the most silent card you could buy but hearing that you're happy with yours i'm happy too lol. Time to give my hard working 980 ti a rest now. Can not wait
P.s I'm all for AMD and what they are doing in the CPU world (have a 3700x myself) but they can not compete with NVIDIA's offerings right now and i wanted to push my monitor to it's limits, even if it costs an extra 39 pence per frame.

You won't regret it. The Ventus outperforms the 5700xt. I'm actually very impressed with it.

We've coupled it with the Ryzen 5 2600 and the CPU loves it.

RDR2 was excellent with it.

Good luck with yours
Won’t get a blower style gpu. Run too hot

It's the AMD Reference cards he is talking about sir so i wouldn't worry. Blower is better for ITX systems in general but nvidia reference blowers arent gonna be throttling like an AMD Reference card

Yeah I have a Kolink Sattelite matx cube case (but really it’s itx - most matx boards are to wide) and the blower works a treat in that
I used to monitor my temps on this card but have stopped. It's normal for them to hit high 90s. They do get loud. But it's all functional and within spec. So I've learnt to stop worrying and love the atomic bomb under my desk

I bought a graphics card once. Absolute terrible card. Thick ooze kept dripping out of the power supply socket and the wireless kept dropping, due to the drip. It looked very similar to blood. Relentless dripping. The case was so hot despite a custom hard line dual-rad loop.

Only my experience though. However, I will mention it in every graphics card thread on HUKD.

EDIT 1: ...Can you understand now?

EDIT 2: I see that you cancelled a WD Red 2TB because one member of this forum mentioned that their drive failed. So, perhaps anecdotal experience plays a large part in your retail decision making. However, you must consider that someone is far likelier to voice their concerns over a bad experience rather than a good one. Therefore, lumping these experiences into one basket is not a sensible thing to do. Each to their own I suppose.

Just trying to make you understand you can’t rely solely on single case studies for buying tech, especially in technology which has a quantified failure rate.

Based on your reply, it seems you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
