Try finding a cheaper deal online before voting cold. The zalman cooler on this card is worth £25-£30 alone. It should be considered a god send for those who were considering buying the standard 4850 and voiding the warranty to install an after market cooler themselves possibly risking killing the card alltogether.

I vote this hot but the fan on this spins at 100% even during idle and cant be modified through applications so I would recomment the new dual slot cooled 4850 over this.

You can get the Gigabyte 4850 GV-R485MC-1GH for £10 more that's fanless and 1GB.

I've added a price and retailer name to the thread title. Thanks. Please try to include

I'd choose ebuyer over pixmania every time. Try returning something to pixmania and you'll see the difference. They don't organise collections either. Extremely cheap service. Ebuyer have a good RMA service.

For those building a HTPC they might want to check out the fanless version for only £137.35 Inc VAT

scan.co.uk/Pro…141

• Powered by Radeon HD 4850 GPU
• Supports PCI Express 2.0
• Microsoft DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 2.1 support
• Integrated with the industry's best 1GB GDDR3 memory and 256-bit memory interface
• Supports CrossFireX and AvivoHD technology
• Features dual DVI-I / D-sub / HDMI / HDCP

I brought the Asus version which has a similar, better than stock cooler and it was £111. Runs DX10 games fine at 1.15ghz memory, 690mhz GPU.

Yup, i picked up the pcs+ version a few weeks back for £110, overclocked it to 700/1150 straight out the box. Idles at 40c load at 65c playing warhead.

qft, ebuyer have the best rma support in uk imo. Not only do they pick up and pay for delivery both ways, the online notes system is really effective and is usually resolved within days.

Returned a TV to Pixmania once, no real problems except they tried to charge me a 15% 'restocking fee' had to phone them up and remind them of a little thing called consumer rights.

£20 more for the 4870. May aswell go for it.

Dont think so
You may be able to get a 4870 for £170
So that is 40 quid more expensive.
See link for the toxic 4850 overclocking
750MHz/750MHz/2,600MHz settings, which are surprisingly close to stock Radeon HD 4870 levels.

Cold, sry but this is £102:

scan.co.uk/Pro…439

Sry man.

P.S Also, dealing with Pixmania, in my experience, is so frustrating it can verge on the surreal.

horrid company and not cheap add another £20-£30 and the choise of a 4870 or a gtx260 is yours personally i have a shappire 4850 which ive had since launch i will be upgrading to a 4870 and i paid £103 from pc world this is not cheap repaeat not cheap.

Power colour with Clock speeds of - 665/993MHz for £121 this is the overclocked edition with uprated fan the same as the toxic and its ebuyer

ebuyer.com/pro…952

or you can have the 4850 sapphire with uprated fan for £113 and do the OC your self with ATI overdrive its a 2 second job even for a idiot this was at ebuyer the first site i went on if i looked harder i could do better by using scan.

Add one of these to a standard 4850 (yup its fits I've tried) and you're laughing.

overclockers.co.uk/sho…-TR

ok so after reading all your posts ive come to the conclusion that the pixmania version isnt a good deal and that the ebuyer version is better, how about the gigabyte 1gb fanless ? is this the best option out of all of them ? i have won a used 8800 gtx on fleabay with zalman cooler fitted for 105.00 but not paid for it yet so after reading these comments im certainly reconsidering my options moreso after my present asus 8800 gtx is getting missing pixels from boot up even in dos screen and then freezing in windows which is why im now looking for a new card

so i guess my questions are : is the 4850 better then the 8800gtx ?
is the fanless gigabyte 1gb 4850 the best to go for
anyone have any ideas why my current 8800gtx is fkd (never been o/c)
