as the title says > RADION washing powder 0.8kg / 12 wash for 50p at Home Bargains.

picked up a couple of packs in the Breightmet,Bolton store earlier today. i only noticed the blue packs but both bio and non bio available. the packaging on both of these is identical apart from the text on the bottom left hand corner on the front of the packaging so be careful if you're after one type in particular.

i've not used Radion before so can't comment on the quality of the wash but worth a try at 50p.

on the shelf there is a Home Bargains Star Buy promotional sticker which leads me to believe that this deal is nationwide.

hope this is of help / use to a few

Great price to use on floor mats etc....nt kind to skin at all though

Crikey!

Didn't know Radion still existed!

It was Unilever's answer to Proctor & Gamble's Arial - but never quite made it. I thought they scrapped it and did another Persil variant.

HOT at this price.

me too i thought it was long gone, i still use a radion tin for bits nd bobs

I seem to remember Radion being launched sometime in the 90's. I remember the bright orange box. Then it seemed to disappear and I'd forgotten all about it. Wasn't there some scandal at the time about people reporting that it damaged their clothes? Although I may have just imagined that!

i used to love this, bought some a few weeks ago, seems fine to me and a bargain at this price

Spot on kitkat there was scandal it damaged clothes!!! Don't know if this is same stuff or just namesake?? They did scrap it though.

I too thought this had disappeared years ago. My husband doesn't have particularly sensitive skin, but I remember 'fondly' using this when it came out, and he ended up in A&E after it burnt the skin off his back - evil stuff IMHO, but maybe they've changed it now ...

Are these nationwide or store by store only?

It's aboslutely OK - like all 'enzme' washing powders, many people simply cannot use it, and Unilever's marketing didn't bother to make it clear that it required 'a certain amount of care' But in terms of cleansing, it's probably not a lot different to Ariel.

Don't use it for woolens silks and delicates, and be sure your rinse cycle works, and you'll be fine. If you have any skin conditions, it should be avoided like the plague.

Radion is often listed as a marketing disaster - almost on a par with Omo, which was a brand leader until they suggested it was perfect for 'stubborn stains' and no-one wanted to be seen with a pack in public. (That was Unilever too - no clue, really).

I bought 6 tubs of it, only one way to find out if its any good!

Anyone know if this is biological? Wanting to use it to wash paved patio after the winter green and heard a tip that it works great, but don't want to use the wives more expensive brand, if I can avoid it!

Noticed OMO still on sale in a supermarket in Italy!

It always was, and with stories of skin troubles, ... it almost certainly still is.

horses for courses i reckon.....i picked up some last week for 50p, i find it fine for a normal household wash, just use a decent fabric softner. I cant use Surf, brings me out in a terrible rash

Can I play Crysis with this?

Back in the 90s (god makes me feel old saying that lol ) my friend won a years supply of radion she had a 90 wash box for each month, She gave me two boxes as there was only two o0f them and was over run with powder . it was fab , clothes smelt fresh and clean will have to get some at this price

No that wasn't Radion that was Persil Power that was launched in 1994, but Radion was released sometime during the late 1980's & claimed to be a detergent that totally removed odours.

It never attracted enough people & in February 2000 when Unilever scrapped 300 of their brands Radion was one of them. They then added another addition to the Surf range; Surf Sun Fresh.

The newer one as you see is made by a different company; I know as I have a box of it myself.

So who bought the trademrk off Unilever?

According to my box of new Radion it's made by a company called Radion UK, Wellington Way, Brooklands, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 OTT

Hope this is useful.
