Yes, you've missed the fact that some people have more money than sense and think owning an overpriced bit of leather somehow makes them a better person. These were on sale in the Radley shop at Meadowhell as well as some other ridiculously priced crap. One was REDUCED from £75 to £45.... for a freakin purse FFS, I guess a fool and his money really are easily parted. Probably matches well with their £85 Hollister T-Shirt that cost £1 to make!!!
Your request cannot be completed, as one or more of the products you wish to purchase are not available in the quantity you requested.
Sorry. I expired this then retried the link and the purchase has gone through. Must be a glitch at Debenhams end.

So who decides precisely how much any item is worth or should be paid for it?

No-one is asking you to buy one or be impressed by the deal. The deal shows a decent percentage off the recommended retail price and therefore is a good deal.

You stick to your crappy poundland plastic wallets and spend the time justifying how it serves it's purpose despite the face that it's probably fallen to pieces by the time you get to Sports Direct to treat yourself to a new shell suit.

i've bought a radley purse previously for my mum for either xmas or birthday (dont remember) and she loved it even though shes not big on many things.

so yeah, if you have a picky mother they seem to make alright presents.
Go to the Tula shop at Mcartha glen. Got 2 purses there yesterday for £27 they have loads to choose from. Junc 28 of the M1.

OOoooohh, touched a nerve me thinks :D. You keep buying designer pap at stupid prices that you can't afford and taking it back to your 2 bed terrace house..... at least the neighbours wont know its all on credit

I have a well paid job and a nice life and I have bought things from SD actually, I'd just rather spend my money on things that DO THE JOB and NOT owe the bank for crap that I dont need, unlike you who will buy something because you saw Cheryl Cole has one just like it.

You keep getting ripped off, after all, its probably your benefit money anyway!!
Thinking of this as a Christmas or wedding anniversary present for the missus - gals, do you think she'd like it?

Keep going, this is hilarious!

So answer my original question then fool. Who decides precisely how much any item is worth? Hardly overpriced at 24 quid is it? Or maybe in your world it is.

And your terrace house assumption would make no sense whatsoever seeing as though a 2 bedroom terraced house in London could cost best part of a million and a 5 bedroomed detached house in other parts of the country could cost significantly less. It's sad that I have to explain such technicalities in laymen's terms but hey ho, that's what comes of dealing with the uneducated. Scuttle along now, Isn't X factor about to start?

OK then, I'll answer your question (assumed you were intelligent enough to work it out, guess I underestimated you!!). Its the MANUFACTURER/ RETAILER that sets the price..... unfortunately "fools" like you then buy their overpriced tat at their ridiculous prices and let them get away with it instead of having to reduce their prices more in line with the cost price.

Is that OK for you or do you want me to draw it in crayons for you love?

As for your other question re Xfactor, you tell me, it clashes with Strictly and thats popular with the "sheep" at the moment so you'll know when its on!! Scuttle off and be with the flock little sheep

Frakison and Exter Monkey - calm down for goodness sake.

My sister loves Radley (she has scotties who are very much her children) so this looks like it could be a good deal.
I bought a radley purse about 5 years ago and still is excellent condition, very good quality product, ordered one for my sister.
Sometimes the designer aspect of goods make you feel like its a treat and we work hard to deserve treats, nobody should be told how to spend their money, we have individual choice.
Lol at the comments! It's a good price for the product and consumers dictate the value of a brand. :-)

In theory, yes consumers do, in practice, they dont! Can consumers dictate the price of petrol??? "Luxury" goods such as this would not work if the price fell to what MOST consumers are willing to pay. Unfortunately too many people are blinded by "Hello" and the other "lifestyle" mags and are brainwashed into thinking that they NEED these over priced items (and at the end of the day, thats exactly what they are, its £3 worth of leather and craft with a badge on it

elasticity of the market
petrols another case, opec and lack of alternative sources
Ordered: will go with the shoulder bag i got for the wife for her birthday. They're not cheap I agree but women love 'em!
I think some people are just damn rude who are they to call people they don't know as stupid and to assume that people are on benefits. I have owned a radley purse in the past and lasted me a long time it is made of good quality leather and was a treat from my partner. I don't read OK mags and such like I just like to have nice things every now and again is that such a crime???

Totally agree and I don't normally, but when someone like exeter_monkey jumps in and slates me for stating what to most is blinding obvious, Im going to retort in a similar manner

My point from the start was that you can get equally NICE products that will last exactly the same WITHOUT the "brag-badge" and it would be a fraction of the price. In my eyes, if you're only going to buy designer brands at knock down prices it makes you a 2p millionaire, i.e. you want to look flash but can't afford it normally = devalues the point of "designer"!!

Oh dear Frakison, you got it wrong. Thankfully other forum posters corrected you and reduced your embarassment slightly and also saved me having to give you a detailed explanation of how pricing is reached in markets where alternatives are available.

Let me know when you need lesson two on understanding how products can vary in quality and how sometimes branded products are better value for money than none branded products. I will only offer this lesson once you explain to me how you manage to live a life totally with unbranded products. What make is your car? your P.C? And also why all your 'deals' you have enhanced this board with, are all for branded products.

LOL, you can't even see how you got that sooo wrong, you need to re-read and get back to me love!!! FYI, they did not correct me flower, consumers DO have a choice on petrol, perhaps its easier for you to understand if I say that there are 'different coloured petrol stations'?? You see, love, if EVERYONE were to select just one of these, we would see a drop in price as the retailer who was left out would take a hit on their profit margin of the sales price, or is that beyond your comprehension?!?

Of course I post and buy branded products, do you not realise that EVERYTHING is branded (facepalm!!), its just that SOME things (like this) rely on the gullibility of a small percentage of consumers, those like you who think that a huge markup means its great quality. To be honest if you werent so irritating I'd pity you in the fact that you've been so easily brainwashed into thinking that branded always = quality, dear me, you're a marketing managers wet dream.

Listen, lets stop bickering, I have some magic beans for sale, I was going to ebay them, but tell you what... you can have them for £1,000,000, they are right up your street as they have a Radley logo on each one so GOT to be worth it

Just had an email to say unable to fulfil order
Same as Lizzy. Not impressed as Debenhams are normally very good.

Yeah they did correct you, but I guess that is the beauty of choosing what you do and don't want to read/believe on a forum. So FYI they did correct you as you (wrongly) believe that manufacturers set a price for goods and regardless of whether that price is too high or not, a gullible consumer will purchase it regardless of quality and value.

So, being as you obviously are the Consumer's Champion and expert on precisely which brands provide quality goods and which do not. Please enlighten me as to the manufacturing process of Radley goods which in your expert opinion makes them not worth the price mentioned in this forum. Also being as though similar items I'm sure can range from many thousands of pounds to just a few pounds, can you advise me as to the maximum a person should be reasonably be expected to want to spend on such an item before idiots like you start making derogatory remarks as to why they are so stupid as to think that such an item represents poor value for money and that any potential purchasers should be beaten into embarassment and given a lecture on the value of money or whatever sermon crap you were trying to drill home?

FWIW (being as though you love your acronyms), IDGAF about the Radley deal, just amazed that people like you constantly berate other offers whilst still championing the causes of tat on your deals. Some kind of power trip I guess.

Lesson three will be on what Unbranded Products actually are, seeing as though in your world, they do not exist , which 110% confirms to me that you actually know FA about anything and are evidently just bitter that some of your 'deals' reach the heady heights of -25 degrees!

YAWN... (thats not an acronym, you're just boring me!!) Please go back to school, learn to read this time and then come back to me love, you never know, you might be able to post something WITHOUT making a fool of yourself :D. If you SERIOUSLY believe that CONSUMERS set the price of goods and not the MANUFACTURER/ RETAILER then you're a bigger chump than I thought (and I thought you were a HUUUUGE chump anyway!!) then I feel sorry for you. Do you spend your life in Tesco's arguing that YOU want to pay them 10p for your beans not £1as its YOU that sets the price not them LOL!!

Anyway, we digress, are you having these beans or not, Cheryl Cole want's them so the price has just gone up £500,000 but that wont bother you will it little sheep

Been emailed to say that they could not fulfill the order - although I see the item is still for sale just at full price. Disappointed.
I just called them and they have reordered it for me at the same price and i'll receive it in the next few days

I rang them they say they have no stock at all in warehouse so it is impossible to order But then said they can order it from a store as they have stock there for £45 !!

Wouldn't budge an inch!!! Very bad for Debenhams this, didn't expect such bad service. Someone has messed up on the website woth the price of that purse and they won't admit it.
Here's a turn up. Received an e-mail from Debenhams apologising for the problems they had with the online store where couldn't fulfill orders that it said were in stock. E-mail offered to sell item at original ordered price if still in stock and also gave a 15% off code for future purchase.

Well this item wasn't in stock so tried ordering a similar item using the code they sent plus another 15% code from this site.

Accepted the code from this site but not the one they gave me in the e-mail!

Rang Debenhams to explain, and to begin with, the reason the code they had so generously given me didn't work was because it was down as one that had expired in 2010!

To cut this short, because the phone ordering staff have access to the stock in stores there were 5 of this item they could order in. With a bit of negotiation got the item for £23.94 delivered; a whole 36p cheaper than the original offer.

Result.

Not received it yet. However had confirmation of order e-mial.

Sometimes its clearly worth ordering by phone (even though missing out on cashback) as they have access to stock that might otherwise show up as unavailable on the website. Now have the purse I originally wanted (Black Circus) and for cheaper than the original offer.
