Retailer Reviews

Inspired by the original look from 1962, the new Captain Cook timepiece from Rado is designed for the 21st century.

This automatic movement watch features a brown dial, displaying a date window at the 3 o'clock position and protected by sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating that allows for optimal visibility.

The dial is set in a 42mm stainless steel case, with a screw-down case back and a black bezel, paired with a soft brown leather strap that offers a vintage aesthetic to this functional and stylish watch.

What has this got to do with Captain Cook except his name's on there ?
This is a recreation of Rado's first dive watch, the "Captain Cook" from 1962. Back then dive watches were tools for people who dived professionally and I suppose there was a sense of exploration and breaking new ground with diving in the 50s and 60s so Rado gave the watch the name of someone considered to be a great naval explorer. *Cue belly button jokes*

Thats a lovely watch. Not the best movement but the 80 hour power reserve and reasonable accuracy are good enough at this reduced price. Chisolm hunter have the blue dial with bracelet for 1250 for those after a bracelet option.
From my limited experience of the C07.611 movement (owning a Captain Cook and having a friend with another), they've both been accurate from the box to within a second per day, so given that and the power reserve I'm hard pushed to criticise the movement.

Do you guys think it’s a good time to buy this or any expectation of more offers coming on these in the different models? I am after the green dial. Do you guys know any website that will price match this?
