Yes indeed, better seeing the Red Arrows on a clear sunny day as with rain and low cloud they will do their low display or even cancel.

Fool

Used to know a RAF pilot who flew them when they were still in service. Vulcans do not have any loo's. On a normal training flight one cew member (after a very heavy night) had to do a number 2 in the corner of the cockpit and the smell was so bad in the cockpit the rest of the crew had to put on their oxygen masks

New formation already being practised...

Call my cynical, but I'm not going to another flight show after what happened a few weeks back!

Last time I went they let a load of motorhomes park right at the front, the selfish occupants then blocked all access to the front with their BBQs, tables and chairs. Dumbest organisation I've ever seen, could have fitted 100s of people, but instead a handful of people got to hog the front. I've not bothered since then.

What Time does it start and finish ?

Where is the different between this and Blackpool? Except price? (Serious question).

Blackpool etc have funding maybe from council hence why its free. Southport however are not so lucky so have to charge. I'm going and can't wait.

P.S Blackpool do not however have the displays in the morning as well as tons of childrens entertainment etc

Lol, not sure if intentional but brilliant double entendre (triple entendre?) considering the "heavy night", although one possibly questionable as it's now called Mumbai.

You should be ashamed of yourselves, people died in a tragic accident and you think its worthy of a joke.

i saw the Vulcan and the red arrows at Headcorn, Kent, fairly recently. The Red Arrows put on their normal (impressive) display which I think was a bit limited by the cloud cover but the Vulcan was very impressive! Such a noise and such power. I've never seen anything like it since Concord. (No e ) Unfortunately, the last fatal crash probably means that the display at Southport will not be as good.

It's flying over the runcorn bridge tomorrow at 14:30 in memory of one if it's designers.

I don't think he was making a joke, read it again ... he is being sarcastic to the post he's replying to.

For what it's worth Southport is a seaside airshow so all the acrobatic manoeuvres take place over the sea and beach rather than over roads and houses. Much safer generally for the public and I'm sure they will be enforcing that this year given the tragic circumstances of late.

Why? This is how an airshow should be done, all the flying is done over the sea and if they crash nobody on the ground gets hurt. That they ever let them fly over people like that surprised me.

I've actually been to a number of airshows (as an official photographer) and been told that they use the nearby A roads as a marker line for their display as it's safely away from the crowds. Often we'd move from the main site towards the roads as these would be the best places to get the action shots. Other ones I've been to used rivers or canals as the outer marker as they are easily identified from the air. Coastal shows are definitely safer.

Aerobatics=performed by planes etc
Acrobatics=performed by people. ::)

Such a shame, I have never seen the Vulcan fly but I can't do this weekend so very very gutted.

not such a great deal seeing the same was on at Weston super mare for free and was also over two days and had loads of family entertainment.

There were far fewer aircraft flying at Blackpool, but if your intention is to see the Vulcan (which was why I went to Blackpool but the rest was great as well), then I guess it's too expensive for what it is. Certainly the last time I went to Southport, there was a little bit more on offer than a couple of Spitfires on the front, the Red Arrow and Typhoon display team vehicles and a couple of other organisations.

That said, traffic into Southport is usually insane, so I wouldn't even attempt going unless I could get there by train or cycle, I'm happy that probably the last time I see the Vulcan was at Blackpool, truly awesome.

The Vulcan is due to make one last trip round the UK, so there may yet be an opportunity at the end of the flying season.

mike

Seen it flying around last couple of weekends as it's based near me. Not that exciting.

^^^ always one. lol

A sad goodbye to the Vulcan. She was always a show stopper.

5 things i went to see at the airshows, Harriers, Tornado, Vulcan, Red Arrows & Euro Fighter, lets be sad as 2 out 5 is bad (in the style of meatloaf)
