The best investment/purchase you will make if you are a university student living away from home. Saved so much thanks to the rail-card. At this price its a no brainier. I take that you could use the NUS11 discount code on the 3 year one as well, that might be better value for some people.

Or if you wanted a 4 year railcard for free, just open up a student account at Santander. And also if you wanted a Free NUS card (3 year) open up a student account with LLOYDS.

natwest also do it,if you are a uni student and they give you other perks too x

In that case I might have to open up a third account;)

Thought that's a good deal and may get one...remembered I'm 29...

Ha ha. It's worth doing research on rail discount cards. They seem to be growing in number of late so you may find that you fall into one of the applicable categories I.e family rail card.

Was due to renew in two weeks so this came in handy, thanks!

How long is this voucher valid for?

No good for travel before 10am so my son going to college can't use it

they used to, pretty sure they don't anymore. and even that was only for existing natwest acc holders who opened a student account.

Not quite so black & white:
"A £12 minimum fare applies for journeys starting between 4.30am-10am Monday to Friday excluding Advance Fares. This minimum fare does not apply on Public Holidays or throughout July and August."
16-25railcard.co.uk/usi…ns/

And if you're travelling on Virgin Trains only, I believe there is an easement that would allow purchase with this card of a discount off-peak ticket for use even during peak hours

Thats that's a standard terms and conditions for most cards now, they don't want the daily workers using it and getting a cheap deal now do they, heaven forbid.

This came up before re travel before 10am not allowed. Scandalous and they should change the name to part-time student card !! Another thing worth noting is that the Santander deal I believe is for 18 and overs only so if you are 16-17 then no free card for you. Beware and read the fine print !!

When is this valid until?

Half correct

Travel before 10 am permited but as mentioned above there are conditions to this

And since when do you have to be aged between 16 up to 25 to be a student and lazy ??

Plenty of full time young workers use these

Oh and incidentall you can get one as a mature student also

Half baked knowledge is worse than no knowledge at all sometimes

I'm 30, can I get one?

Does 30 come between 16 and 25? It does. So yes, you can get one.

Any discount on the 3-year railcard?

Yes you can, as long as you are a full time student you are entitled to purchase and legitimately use a 16-25 Railcard. See the small print for confirmation of this.

Do you know if you can apply for the Santander student account if you're already a student (3rd year)? Their website seems to imply that you need to be about to go to uni or in your first year in order to apply.

I'm a mature student an got one thinking it would save me quite a bit of cash travelling back and forth, only i never read the T&C's and to my disgust i found out that that a £12 minimum fare applies for journeys starting between 4.30am-10am Monday to Friday. So money wasted and card railcard no use to me. So beware and make sure you read the T&C's

Well, before last month I couldn't give 2 monkies. Now...I do! I now commute from a Manchester suburb into the centre. Monthly rail pass is £84...but annual is £860 odd so another 2 months free ish there (£6 a day otherwise). 29, only me who really uses the train from the family (2 old, 2 little)...so probably fall into the generic category which doesn't have many beneficial offers!

If you are a Full time student age doesn't matter. Just get the print forms signed from your Uni and you can get this card.

can i be benefit from this discount if i apply the card at a staffed station ticket office but not online?
