I use this stuff on the bathroom mirror. The glass never steams up anymore after having a hot shower. Its good to be able to see myself after getting out of the 🚿 😃

Plenty of people say that but I think it’s to do with how it’s applied, used it earlier in the winter for the first time and it didn’t work, applied it again with a second coat and clear windscreen since.

Makes it worse.
Does anybody that has used this know if this make the windscreen smeary when the wipers are on like some other windscreen treatments please?

I've recently started using the normal rainx on the outside of car windows and it does a really good job, I'm yet to use on the windscreen though as I also heard of the smearing so been a bit weary of it.

Wouldn't mind trying these anti fog wipes though too at this price
I use it on my spectacles...does the trick...never steam up...but I can't see a thing cos of scratches.
I've never been lucky with this stuff... I've used it a few times over the years and all thats ever happened is I have smearing on the screen for weeks that I cant get rid of.

I've got precisely the same thing happen to me. It really does not work at all.
It's ok and works as long as the glass you apply it to is clean...Very clean.
I use it on bathroom mirrors and my specs as well as the car 🐱

How clean glass are we talking about?
For the normal Rain-X, I use lint-free microfiber cloths to clean the car windows first.

I used to have a lot of smearing, til I watched a YouTube video; the Chap was thorough in cleaning it, and applied it with a microfiber cloth, rubbing it in a circular motion until it dried.

I use a fair amount of pressure.

Worked a treat over the last few storms we've had.

I apply it to the reversing camera too, and give it an occasional wipe after a drive.

Clean it twice with normal glass cleaner is enough, let it dry apply this twice and job done.
I watched ChrisFX's video and applied shaving gel
I think windscreen wipers do the same job

I once asked a mechanic about Rain X and he advised against using it. It builds up a film layer that eventually reduces the lifespan of your windscreen wipers.

Yip thats what I found when i used it causes the windscreen wipers if new to squeak and stutter too!
Better to use it on the inside to stop steaming up or on yer glasses or bathroom mirror etc!

Never worked for me too. Bought microfiber to clean it but took 6 of them dry

Very clean

Squeaky clean. Then just apply some WD40 to the blades and bingo new wipers and no smearing.

Really? That's shocking. I guess it causes the rubber on the wiper to drag on the glass with more friction, hence increased wear and tear. Strange, because applying it I would imagine increases the slipperiness of the screen to make the water slide off quicker and easier.
Reduces interior fog? Most cars come with aircon, stick it on and it does exactly the same.
RainX is superb stuff on the outside of your windows But this fog stuff is rubbish for the insides of the windows, best to use a good quality window cleaner regularly say 3 - 4 weeks apart and you will have no troubles

Rain-x should be applied to side windows really. There are products to apply to windscreens such as nanolex.

Yep it does. Put it on my citroen c4 windscreen with bosch wipers and it caused wiper shudder and smearing. Nothing gets the bloody stuff off and you have to wait 3 months for it to wear off! I was even contemplating hitting the windscreen with a hammer at one pont so I could get it replaced
No, because this is for the inside of the windscreen
Dunno about the car but I'm tempted for the bathroom.

Was a surprise to me too. Before that, I thought all car mechanics would use and sell this stuff but apparently not.

And it's annoying because I got a whole load of it, and it needs using up.

Very true wd40 has many uses - take your spark plugs out squirt in some wd40 and leave overnight cleans carbon in the cylinder heads - got before and after pictures using one of those Smartphone borescopes - very useful for checking the inside of your engine for problems - just make sure its a good borescope with a powerful LED!!

Quite a few uses actually check this some new ones:-
teddyfeed.com/lif…ks/

Although WD silicone spray is magic for spraying on wipers , boot rubbers and all sorts of engine rubber components to stop them cracking and going off - Scotty Kilmer did a vid on it - sprayed my windscreen wipers and they have been going for 5 years without a change and like new!

Haha, good shout! Although the rain here carries so much sand that the rain-x can't stop it from sedimenting on the window
