Found 14th Dec 2015
Tis the season for stone chips on windscreens. After having my windscreen replaced last year for a chip, got another one the other day. Not wanting to pay excess on insurance or £175 for a windscreen , I found this. Got good reviews on Amazon and Halfords for small chips. Cheapest I can find ,few quid more on amazon, and ebay there is a few pounds P&P. Off to halfords tomorrow to pick one up. May help someone else out in the same situation

£175 excess for a windscreen claim. WTF. What robbing insurance company are you with? Never heard of more than £75.

I've used Auto glass before through insurance which was free and very good, however its worth considering that when you then re-apply for insurance you're supposed to mention that you've had it done which increases your quotes... few things are really free.
Instead of using the razer blade at the end, could you not use steel wool instead? surely you will scratch it badly with the razer at some point?
Most insurers charge between £10 and £25 for stone chip repairs these days anyway.
Thanks for the info OP - delivered for extra 75p on ebay
