Was looking for a rain repellent treatment for my windscreen and came across this deal.
Forms part of the Essential motoring deal of Halfords.
I added the RainX Rain Repellent and RainX Anti Fog to my basket and paid only for one item, the other one was free and this works for a list of other items.

Having used Rain X since about 1990 I tried the Halfords own brand a year ago after reading a magazine head to head test of these products and I found it far better in that it is easier to apply and lasts longer.

Good Deal.
RainX Glass Cleaner & Rain Repellent 500ml is only £4 in ASDA , for people who do not want two products of RainX

G-techniq G1 is the way forward IMO

Dont waste money on this, g-techniq or dodo juice do much better glass treatments. Will last far longer too

Do not put this on your front windscreen under any circumstances.
It's ok for a while but smears and streaks to hell once your wiper blades absorb it.
It ruined my wiper blades and had to buy replacements.
Tried everything to get this stuff off my screen including lighter fluid, petrol, glass cleaner, neat screenwash, meths, etc.
It's fine on the side windows however especially at motorway speeds.

ASDA were doing a 'Roll Back' offer on this for £3 not so long ago. I bought 3 lots.

£4.79 cheapest on eBay for one bottle, so good value. The rain repellant is a great product if you haven't used it before, worth a shot!

This stuff, well the original, were in Poundland a while back ......

Redex 4 treatment bottle also BOGOF.

use this for my work vehicles ( ambulances ) good stuff

This happened to me, did you apply too much? That's what I did

RainX is good, but if you're serious about this stuff then use Aquapel .., it beats RainX hands down and lasts much longer

If you hunt around then it's actually not a lot dearer than RainX either

I was part of a trial group of detailers commissioned to, er, trial, these products. Shame they don't make the halfords own brand any more as indeed this was by far the best. Rain-x came third if I remember right. These products do not destroy windscreen wipers or cause smearing if applied correctly. The windscreen AND blades must be EXTREMELY clean prior to application, or this product sits on top of dirt and eventually will degrade and leave streaks. I still use the halfords own brand on my X5 and Skoda Fabia and it works perfectly and each application lasts around 3 months.

Glad you mentioned that, as that was what came second. Just couldn't remember the name.

Totally agree - its pointless stuff that causes more problems than it cures.
Don't buy Prestone screen wash either - its got this stuff added into it and it causes the same smearing and streaking.

Is this any good on shower screens?

Is this any good on shower screens?

I can't see why not, I use it on bathroom mirrors!

I use one called Duxback and had it done by dealer on brand new car twice, so far from new and found it to last around 18 months (Car gets kept garaged at home so less vulnerability to wear it off, website says last around 6 months) got it free but I think it's normally around £25-£35 to have done by dealer. No streaking and swear by it now. Think you can buy the treatment to do yourself but you do need to get the pack and apply the windscreen cleaner element part of it well first to work best or so I read in some reviews! Used to use RainX and you really do need to like most of these products ensure your glass is deep cleaned otherwise it'll seal in any residue/dirt and smear all the time.
Ghosting will occur with most of these products if your glass is cold first thing below snippet from the website explaining why.

Ghosting

‘Ghosting’ or a Whiteness may appear on the screen first thing in the morning.

This is due to a slightly slower evaporation process as morning humidity droplets will have changed shape. Droplets of moisture on the screen now have an increased contact angle from 30° to 110°. The greater the angle the more ‘rounder’ the water droplet.

Warm the screen with the de-mister. The ghosting will disappear within 90 seconds

Found the Anti-Fog one to be good for bathroom mirrors to stop them from misting up.

Sweet have some heat . Just ran out. Use it on shower screen at home as well as car
Don't know why they don't market it for bathrooms

Yes, I had the same problem with prestone screenwash as well. Ended up having to run my screenwashers till empty to flush it out of the cars pipe work.

Where's the fun in that? No messages to the other half?? ;-)

Bought one from eBay for about £5.75 a few weeks ago. Used it on two cars. Works beautifully.
