Nice. Ready Player One is only a quid more too.
Picked up Blade Runner 2049 the other day at this price and looks fantastic.

20% topcashback worth mentioning as well.
Do they do have Atmos soundtracks or DV HDR?

Do rakuten movies still expire a few years after you buy them?

Not in my case on my LG OLED, Rakuten support Dolby Vision and 5.1 DD+.

That’s good to know . Wish they’d improve their sound for Chromecast users.
My Rakuten app has disappeared from my TV and Firestick- wasn’t sure if they were still going.
Great prices, how's the picture/audio quality? Is it similiar to Apple's tv?
Any way to get wuntu rental credit to work towards a purchase?

Very good uhd prices, especially ready player one for £7!

But do I dare add another provider to my google-apple-amazon-UV collection. And when the hell will they bring movies anywhere over here so it's actually worthwhile buying digital rights.
Is it not risky to buy an online movie?

Blinkbox/TalkTalk TV movies lost by many when Rakuten took them over!!! (content not offered)

Yes, you touch upon the fundamental point, you won't own these, you are buying a licence.

IT is also £5.99

Thanks for this. Picked up a couple. Odd they didn't make a bigger deal of this.
What devices can play Rakuten's UHD? Their support page seems to only suggest certain Samsung TVs.

UHD with 2.0???
Apart from free films I have acquired via Wuntu I'd think carefully about buying from Ratuken

Terrible site and very likely to not be around in the future

Buying from Google any films can be watched via YouTube..... Pretty unlike Google will ever cease trading! Even with massive fines!

Massive fines, you're dreaming if you think they are paying anything like that.

Imagine the internet dirt Google could dig up and blackmail all the members of the EU commission with, not like they would

Only just started using Rakuten but not sure why you say it's a terrible site? Seems great to me, nice and easy to use and the app they have for my LG TV is very slick.

Google on the other hand I actually wanted to use, but apart from the fact that their UHD stuff is generally much more expensive, it also says it will also only work using either an Android TV or Chromecast Ultra, which is pretty poor. Also can't see ant details as to whether it includes Dolby Vision.

This from their help pages:

"Compatible UHD/4k Devices

At this moment our UHD/4k content is compatible with Samsung Smart TVs with Tizen OS (year of manufacture 2015, models higher than J6000, and newer) and UHD resolution, and LG Smart TV's with Web OS (year of manufacture 2016 and newer) and UHD resolution.

We're working to increase the number of brands compatibles with UHD content."

UHD with 2.0??? UHD with 2.0???

It looks like some Samsung smart TVs can output better than 2.0, but those of us with Chromecasts, Roku, AppleTV, etc would max our with HD video and 2.0 audio.
I was up for this, but I have a Hisense TV, and there's no evidence that this will display at UHD. If I look on the app, I can see it for sale, but it doesn't say what resolution it is, and none of the trailers on there are UHD for me... The Blade runner one looks HD. This is dumb - who will buy this stuff when there's no evidence that you're even getting what you pay for? Now that I look, I'm not conviced there's any app on the TV that will allow you to rent UHD movies and get them in the correct res.

I suspect that the manufacturer of your TV is not currently supported? One of the comments above suggests that only a selection of LG and Samsung TVs are supported to date.

If you are signed into the app, you should be given a choice of compatable formats before completing your purchase.

Yeah it's not on the list, but that's frustrating, as other apps work in UHD. It can't be too much of a hassle to get the codec to work on this platform.

I can try and go through to complete the purchase, the first thing it asked was my CC details, and I bailed out!

Afraid not. I tried using the Wuntu credit towards a £6.99 purchase and it didn’t work. To their credit Rakuten refunded me my £6.99.

I confirm this is the case on my new LG. I get to choose - kids got Peter rabbit in sd with 345 points though I was still blown away, but couldn't find anything to show me what res the actual playing video was

Not sure but I going from what Rakuten said, I think you need enough points to cover your full purchase/rental

I don't use Wuntu myself but take a look at one of the top comments on the below deal, they explain how you can combine 2 week's worth of points. As I say I don't use it myself so no idea if it's right, but it sounds like it may be.

Terrible film
Shame. I have a 2015 LG and a Panasonic Ex750 which are not supported. Another "provider" missing a trick in the UHD market.
These seem to have expired.
