Really good bike for a first road bike or a winter/training bike at that kind of money. Good find!

Looks a good deal.... Heat.

Bit of a looker that. Voted.

Don't forget the B'Twin 500 SE @ Decathlon for £300.

Won loads of awards, and that was when it cost more money.

Better than giant defy 5, carbon fork

Yea I had one for a month or two when mine got nicked. And it wasn't far off being as good as my £2k bike

Looking for a first road bike at around £200 to £300 and only seem to find Halford stuff. Bit confused with the short/long thing though, I'm 5ft 9. Any ideas/advice?

This looks like a great beginners deal.

Great find, Great price, looks good to me, have some heat

nice styling. Seems like strong value here.

Yeah, just use the size chart
chainreactioncycles.com/ral…0b6

thanks for this post.

Standard price for this, even marked, down is over £400. So It's clearly a good deal if it's the bike for you. A basic starter road bike with very basic gearing but it's good enough to get you going at that price. If you didn't like it you could probably sell it for not much less than you paid for it. Decent review here Ravenio review
Bear in mind the bike costs half what it did at the time of the review and it starts to look even better!

Which of the 2 would have a better resale value as I need a gap bike for a few months?

Probably the btwin

I bought this bike in March for £550 so this is a bargain!

I'm thinking this is the better bike.

The compact claris groupset seems like a better bet than the triple on the btwin.
Have had nothing but trouble with the triple on my current roux 2300 cyclocross.

Neither..... for resale ease and price you're better off with the Giant Defy 5, which you can get for under £290 at Rutland.

I wouldn't want a triple on a road bike either.

Wow, that's a lot of bike for the money. Several years ago the Triban 3 was the budget bike to get and that had a similar spec (for the time) and was £300. This is even better As others have mentioned too it's a nice touch that it's a triple rather than a double. Heat heat heat!

Can't buy another bike. My wife will kill me

This is a compact double...not a triple.
The alternative btwin that was mentioned in a post is a triple.

Off topic...
Anyone know where I could buy some cheap double sided clipless pedals.
Flat on one side and cleats on the other

Decathlon currently have these on offer at £17.99 bought some yesterday and they work fine also come with a set of SPD cleats which has to be worth a fiver on it's own. Half Cliples pedals £17.99

Thanks but I've ordered the shimano.
Also these have some pretty poor reviews.

I've never understood these pedals. Are they any good on road bikes as off road I'd prefer a simple clip in on either side than a 50/50 chance of clipping in, depending on use of course, but it's easy enough to take the pedals of with an Allen key (as long as you know your threads are different on either side) and replace in less than 5 mins

I looked into getting them for my commuter bike, where I could use flat shoes to work and then clip in on the 20+ mile rides. In the end I bought another bike and that solved the issue!
