for the money this is an awesome bike

Dont know anything about this modle of bike, but for anyone looking to get a mountain bike, but just use it for going on the road, or say cycling on a park path, then the hybrid is the way to go.

I recently took advantage of a cycle to work scheme, and after doing a bit of research settled on a hybrid, they are the dogs danglies, ive ridden normal mountain bikes years ago and the difference between a traditional one and a hybrid is astonishing, there so much easier to ride on road with the thinner, racer stiled wheels it makes riding much less of an effort.

I appreciate this is a bit off topic, but hybrids are excellent.

also consider the carrera vengence hybrid bike in halfords for £10 more.

no idea which one is better, but im sure the experts out there will let us know.

The Carrera Subway Limited currently at £199 is a better buy if you are intending to use for light off road duties, it only has 21 gears compared to 24 here but has disc brakes instead of V-type rim brakes, which as a commuter/workhorse bike makes much more sense as a long term prospect, saving on rim wear and tear and improving braking in the wet. This Raleigh has the larger 29" (700c) road style wheels compared to 26" MTB style ones on the Carrera which makes this bike more orientated to fast road riding than off-road.

Please bear in mind that this bike is a commuter/road bike NOT a mountain bike like the Carrera Vengance.
