I find the other way round on their classic polo's. I'm usually M in most t-shirts but S in Ralph polo's. also depends if u prefer baggy style or tight fit

Yeah I find this to be the same too! I'm usually a medium but I'm a small in their classic fit, and a medium in their custom fit.

The prices on their site, even though it's a 60% off sale, still seem to be high considering how cheap you can buy items from an outlet store for.

I'm generally a size XL in most polo shirts, with Ralph Lauren I'm a size XL in their "custom fit" & "slim fit" range but then I'm a size L in their "classic" range. I have just looked on their website and found out why:

What is the difference between the classic, custom and slim fit of the Ralph Lauren polos and which one is right for me?

As the epitome of classic American sportswear, our polos are now available in three silhouettes. The Classic-Fit is our original style and features a roomier chest, longer sleeves and an extended shirttail that allows for increased mobility. For a sleeker silhouette that pairs well with a suit jacket, for instance, the Custom-Fit is 1½ inches narrower in the chest and features shorter sleeves and hems for a streamlined fit. The newest is our Slim-Fit, a more tailored option inspired by European style, which offers our narrowest chest (a ½ inch slimmer than Custom-Fit) and our shortest front and back hems. Worn with dark jeans this spring, the Slim-Fit offers the classic look of a polo, updated in a modern style-minded fit.

Hope this helps

Yes Large is a 42-44 chest - but if you are buying custom sizes you will need an XL as it is a tighter fit - unless you want a tight fitting polo

5% quidco too...every little helps

great sale - if you are someone who has problem controlling the amount of food they eat

Cheap(er) but still not quite there.

Will hold out on the hope they will add a discount code we can use to take another 20% off - think they done this previously towards the end.

Not much saving for what I wanted

So what is what ? Hate the slim-fit things where if you're a large you need XXL or whatever - but whats "custom fit stretch" ?

I bought a shed load of stuff from RL about 6 months ago when a deal was posted on here. Think they had a 50-60% off sale but you also put the code RLPARTNER in and it took another 25% off the entire bill so was massively cheap - not forgetting 5% Quidco. This seems like a decent deal as I've just ordered a polo top for £28.

WRT to sizing, I'm a fairly big chap and get away with XL for most things. I bought an XL Big Pony polo last time round and this fits perfectly but found the XL custom fit too tight so have gone for XXL this time

I'd like to know this too, I cannot see that it is defined anywhere. I can only assume that it's referring to the material being cotton and stretched to form a custom fit.

All I know is that the custom fit for me is the same size as what I am in any other brand, and the classic fit is a size larger. But, I once bought a medium slim fit polo from RL in my usual medium and it was way too small.

yeah this is not really a hot deal......still really expensive....

Always remember once buying a slimfit Wrangler shirt where I actually bought an XL to be on the safe side, and it was smaller than a MEDIUM !!!!! Ive never trusted a slimfit since

Yeah I've found this across different brands too, Fred Perry is quite bad for this especially after one wash of one of their slim fit polos!

Cold, 1. just go to any outlet you can have cheaper ones than these. 2. Not a fan of these at all, it's just like GAP or superdry or whatever brand that only put their logo on clothes. Why do you have to pay money to advertise for them?

american sizing. as they are larger folk.

Macy's in NYC had an amazing sale on during Presidents day, my friend and i got some amazing deals, Gillet for £27 Original price $200, polo shirts for £25 to £35 and joggers as well. Wearing one of them now!

1. Although I agree that the outlet prices are generally better, especially if they have offers on, unless you live close to an outlet (I don't) this is a good alternative. Some of the items on the website are still overpriced, but if you have a good search some items are generally good value.
2. Just because your not a fan doesn't mean that this should be voted cold, I am a fan and I'm happy to pay £30-£50 to "advertise" Ralph Lauren on a polo and have done plenty of times. Also after looking through your profile, you have posted 2 deals for Gap, so why do you pay money (or provide deals to others) to "advertise" for Gap

I've bought RL from Selfridges and the quality is 10x better than the ones in the outlets (York for example). They make stuff specifically for the outlets.

You really don't like fat people do you? A pic of you would be nice - for comparison purposes.

Gunwharf quays polo store has sale on too. And giving extra 20% off until 12th july

Agreed that outlet does not have the same quality or consistency as retail. I did notice majority of shirts are classic fit, whilst custom and slim fit are hard to come by in the outlet. However I am unable to differentiate the quality but can't say for the polo shirts which I have seen poorer materials and oddities.

There are some bargains to be had in retail and online if you know what to look for.

At least you can slim down if you are fat, more difficult to change if you're a small minded bell end.....

Do you also remove the manufacturer badges from your car? wrap all your groceries in plain paper (ala big brother) to not risk advertising the product?

The "Custom Fit" Polos... UK M = 38-40, UK L = 42-44, in my experience. I am a 40" and the M was too tight for me. "Regular Fit" I'd go one size smaller.

Since discovering TK Maxx and Outlets, I'm loathe to pay anything remotely close to rrp on designer stuff now lol. Especially after shopping in New York, insanely cheap compared to here.

Not always. I remember when in Orlando in 2011 I bought a few T shirts which were too small despite a larger size. The BlueMan groups T shirts in particular I had to give away to a charity shop they were far too small, though the right size. You HAVE to try the shirts on.

Also terrible with varying size are Lyle & Scott. I got XL - one fits fine, the other is like a bloody medium. Both bought off M&M - i suspect over-order or seconds there as why. I used to get large, and still have to with some. The sizing is all over the place

Most outlet stuff nowadays is made for outlet or has lower quality control than normal stuff. Not sure if that is def the case for Ralph Lauren but a lot of other companies do it. I'd love some of the RRL stuff but it is crazy expensive

My basket keeps resetting to zero?

The outlet at Cheshire Oaks is usually the other way round - all Custom or Slim, little or no Classic, certainly the last few times I've been.
