Beautiful track

One of my all-time favourites. I Close my eyes and I'm lying in a field in the countryside on a beautiful summer's day, feeling the warmth of the sun

Wow Now you've hit on one of the greatest. I keep playing Shropshire, Banks and the two English idylls all the time. He was a good friend of Ralph. Such a shame he was taken so young. So little exists of his music but what there is, is absolutely stunning.

Theres one tune I heard in school and never ever found out who did it. I'd forgotten it until I was playing World of Goo and theres a tune on there that is clearly taken from that tune. Used Shazam but that didn't work
Thought "Sure Butterworth died in WW1" - just checked and he did. The brainless waste of that war. If Britain had not got involved it would have been over within a year - 1870 had been similar between Germany and France. And Austro-Hungarian was withering away regardless. (Ignore me - musing)

Yes the banks of green willow is another track that gets a lot of airplay on classic FM but his English Idylls are also beautiful. Such a short life but what he left was so beautiful. There's a great Decca CD with them all on. But his published work is probably only enough to fill one cd. amazon.co.uk/But…A6B
Nice one as ever Boz
