Not bad but there's just no point getting the 2nd Generation over the 3rd.

Wi-Fi/BTooth Built in, HEVC/x265 decoding and just generally a newer device.

I paid £40 for a pi3 starter kit in Amazon about a month ago.

It was a gift for a friend, when compared to the pi2 B I have I'd definitely say it is worth the extra.

There are some edge cases for choosing the 2 over the 3, i'm running a cluster and tbh the power demands of the 2 mean I am filling it with with those over the 3 - i just don't need the wifi or bt. So yes, there are some reasons, but maybe not in a 'starter-kit' pack.

Which version of Pi2 is this.
I cannot tell from the description you have given.
The newer V1.2 has the same processor as the Pi3 just clocked lower.
Without the added complication (for UART users) of the Bluetooth being on there and the overheating (and hence throttling) of the Pi3.

If it's the older version then if it substantialy cheaper it a good device still.
