Id go for a pi3 kit, not much more expensive, worthwhile performance/hardware gains, unless that is irrelevant for what you will be using ot for.

Agreed. You get Wi-Fi and BT4 included and, if overclocked, can play HEVC files fine apparently compared to the Pi 2.

Sure. Although it's no official source, it's on the official Kodi forums. Not tried it myself but seen some results. Hit and miss I think.

Post 8 describes no issues with playing 720p HEVC content but 1080p HEVC apparently struggles.

Post 10 describes that they play fine after the start and provides the settings he uses for overclocking.

A post on OSMC suggests after OClocking too, they were able to play HEVC.
