Often lurked but never posted so please be kind :-)

I managed to get hold of a SNES Mini but was actually mega disappointed - more so with the games that were missing. I wanted Super Soccer, Smash TV, Sim City, Pilot Wings and Legend of the Mystical Ninja so I'm going to build myself a Pi emulator.

This seems like a good price for a case including fan.

Anyone know of any decent 'SNES style' controllers that would be appropriate?

Bought them every time and never had a problem.

Also, peace of mind as it's from the Pi Hut.

Nice one!

Reviews from what looks like the same kit here:

amazon.co.uk/Ras…fan

Some think it's decent. Some think it's a bit shoddy.

Probably decent enough for the price though.

Good deal but if you only want to add games to your existing SNES Mini search for Hakchi2. Incredibly easy to add more games from simple Windows App.

Love it. Heat.

Any good deals on the pi3 itself?

That is not from china

One thing to bear in mind: a metal case will likely prevent the on-board wi-fi from working. Looks similar to the case I use for a Pi 2; that requires a dongle for wireless networking so it would be fine to do the same with a 3. If it is the same case, it does the job OK but I did need to wiggle the Pi to get it seated properly as the tolerances are pretty tight!

This

The word on the street is the snes classic mini has the better emulator with less lag.

I have both. Can't say I really notice a difference mind.

Most of the fun is actually building the retropie

better emulator than what, snes9x on the Raspberry Pi 3?

I'm interested in this if I knew where to start! Been tempted by SNES mini but lack on games is the downside as you've said. But seen also you can add games according to the other posts above.

What are the pros and cons of each approach? I do have some technical knowledge so happy to have a play round. I wish there were some wireless controllers though...

Im still waiting for Bluetooth speaker from this crap website. It's been 2 months and they refused to return my money. Opened PayPal claim.

Do you understand that the Pi Foundation is a charity?

Generally I’d prefer the Flirc version, yes it’s more expensive, but it’s a nicer product.

of course I do, and charity starts at home.

managed to get one for £15 from currys

Can't beat the Flirc case for gaming on the Pi. Keeps Cpu cool and does not need a fan.

Be very cautious ordering from this site. BIG SCAMMERS. I'm still waiting for something I ordered over a month ago too. If you google reviews you'll see that they only get 1 stars and that's because you can't give zero. Chinese company. Had I known I would have steered clear.
