The lowest price I've seen in a while for the latest version of the Raspberry Pi, especially as most other places also charge for delivery.

The 3 B+ has a few advantages over the previous releases, such as a faster 64-bit 1.4GHz quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, faster dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2, and significantly faster 300Mbit/s ethernet.

I have the Pi 2 Model B. Does this represent a good upgrade if all I want to do is leave it in a drawer and never get round to actually using it for anything?

wat do ppl use these for

No end of applications.

Some useful ideas here:

makeuseof.com/tag…pi/

I use mine as an emulator for old console / MAME games with RetroPie
This isn't a bad price if you need one today, but if eBay does a 15% discount code again in the near future, it may be worth waiting for that. I picked one of these models up for just over £27 in the last eBay 15% promotion.

I use one (the Pi 3) as a PLEX server and downloading torrents. It connects to my NAS to stream films etc. Been working without issue for a couple years now.
Planning on upgrading my pi2 at some point but I think I'll wait until after Feb, they sometimes announce new revisions around then from memory. Good price though, hot.
I’m hoping to set one up with Pihole just haven’t got around to it yet
I've one i use for plex and a basic nas. Another i use for retropie and it's awesome for gaming.

Got a pi2 and pi zero laying around as well. Might well look up some projects to do with them.

By that logic you'd be waiting for everything, ever to come down in price.

I've got...

2 x Retropie, one mobile and one built in a cabinet
2 x Pi's for using with Camjam kits for the kids
Ubiquity Unifi controller
PiBot

Yes, that's the logic of bargain hunting

So this isn't a good price as-is, because of the possibility that at some point someone else could reduce it in price? Alrighty.

I can guarantee that means absolutely nothing to him

Cheap Kodi box for physical hard drive playback.
Had one of years, never been a problem, plays back anything I throw at it (apart from 4K ofc) powered directly from the TV and controlled via the TV's remote.
Also have another with RetroPi on it.

Retropie play all your classic console emulators
Can I put Android OS on the pi and do they have HDMI port? Thanks

I thought that when typing but hopefully they have the ability to Ggogle and read

No, the logic of bargain hunting is surely getting stuff you need at a cheapest price on the day, and stuff you want at what you consider to be the lowest price before it turns into something you need.

Oh and for alot of people on here, buying crap they will never use just because it's cheap lol.

But I want it to go; down, down, deeper on down..
Hopefully the Pi 4 will be out in the next few months as it is nearly 3 years since the 3. I want something with a bit more power to build into an old X-Arcade tankstick as a portable retro console.

Can anyone recommend the best way to control a Raspberry Pi from a Windows 10 box? Can you use a screenshare tool like Teamviewer?

If using a desktop image on the Pi, you could try a VNC solution which works great on a local LAN.

Yes, ideally get to the GUI.
I don't like the crust on this one.

VNC Viewer, it's already built into Raspian so it's just a case of downloading and setting it up on windows. Very easy to use.

Any recommendations for best Retropie image ?

Virtualman XII Platinum old school, but it's 256gb so costly if you put it on sd but you can write it to HD and set up a small microsd card to boot from.

Darish Zone omega is also a decent image with loads of stuff for speccy which virtualman lacks.

Or if you want something smaller just to tinker with then VLC extreme build v3b+is only 32gb

Been eyeing this up myself recently. What are you using and what’s your monthly return like?
can pi play latest 4k video files that are compressed or is too weak?

After a cheap way to play 4k files. android boxes have too many issuea or are full of ads.

How easy is this to set up to play retro games? And it is literally just one piece of software or do you have to add each game you want to play manually
