Sorry for the rant. But i hate the way they are using the words "pirate radio". if you cant transmit audio over radio waves its not really a pirate radio.

Just moron then to use pirate in description.

It's because the kit is made by Pimoroni who have a pirate themed brand. Pimoroni is a contraction of Pirate-Monster-Robot-Ninja.

I wonder how many millions of these Raspberry Pi kits just sit in people's cupboards or drawers and never see the light of day.
Here's another to add to the pile...

Excellent price, thanks op
Nice design heat added
Worth noting that it says soldering is required - I'm guessing that's referring to the header? If so, I believe there are hammer-on headers instead - or Pi Hut do the Zero with header pre soldered on.
Does this turn the pi zero into a portable radio? Is it DAB?
Yes

Yes. No.

Portable so long you supply internet to stream and power source.
Soldering these can be tricky. Just worth noting to those that haven't had a kit like this before.

Thought exactly the same after checking the description several times and failing to find anything to to with transmitting. Though I realise the OP had nothing to do with the naming of the kit.

And WiFi uses what exactly? It's just some fun naming and if it gets someone into engineering/electronics then that's great

Why moron when it is clearly labelled Pirate Radio!

Wonderful little device. But, what does the ''Pirate'' wording refer too. Just like to know?.

Sorted.

I need a DAC for my Raspi and it is £13, so for an extra £8 I can get a Zero W, Heat.
If they're going for a pirate theme, then perhaps it should have been named the Seaman Staines Radio.

Perfect for any decorator.

Something I discovered after getting this board is that you you can only drive speakers directly because of the way the MAX98357A works. You can't use the output to drive another amplifier, so my plan to use it as a DAC with my existing

Greggs should do a promotion. If you can eat, say, 30 steak and kidneys in 10 minutes, you get a free one of these.

The helpful chap in the blue tracksuit is being really considerate to the folk viewing the photo.
He's trying to indicate that there are FIVE people in the picture... Unfortunately he had his thumb chopped off in a skirmish outside mothercare a few years back when he was in Blazin' Squad. Somebody probably said "dem creps is whack"... or something liiiike dat init Bro (id imagine).
