A true film industry pioneer, Ray Harryhausen took stop-motion animation to an entirely new level and revolutioniSed the special effects industry. His innovative work, which inspired directors like George Lucas, Peter Jackson, and Sam Raimi, is still influential; he did more with the technology of the time than anyone before and most people since. His effects were integrated with live action in classics such as CLASH OF THE TITANS and JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (famous for its sword fighting skeletons), but RAY HARRYHAUSEN: THE EARLY YEARS COLLECTION brings together a selection of Harryhausen's previous and lesser-known attempts at filmmaking. Included in the collection are his versions of Mother Goose stories and various fairy tales, technological experiments, several short films and demos.

* Early films, tests and experiments
* The making of Tortoise And The Hare
* Image galleries
* Interviews

Ray Harryhausen is a stop-motion animation legend!
There's also a good documentary on him here: stopmotionguide.com/vid…es/
Oh, and it's his 90th birthday soon! :-o

RHH is a legend!

I shook his hand, when he did a Q&A session in Oxford. He had Medusa and his skeletons with him. A genius.

I did a telecine for him several years ago of some of his own copies of the works on this disc. He is a great guy. What you have to realise is what tools he had to do them vs what we have today, he told some great stories about being invited to Weta and seing the scale of the animation done today vs his own.

I can only hope that our efforts on the remake of Clash live up to people's expactations vs the original.
