It is the cheapest in the market for now, grab a bargain. I guess the razor sharpener does not need any description, a well known brand name and quality product..

I have one of these, they're great! They clean rather than sharpen but nevertheless, extend the life of your blade. Lubrastrip excluded obviously

Dry razor blades to make them last long for another tip

Switch to DE shaving and you'll get the best shave at a relatively low cost.

old piece of Jeans and run the blade 20 times one way against the jeans and then 20 times the opisit direction.
get 4-6 months out of a blade then

but takes 3 times as long and more easier to cut chunks or of yourself.

I still am trying to work out why they are called safety razors? nothing "safe" about them

there safer than a cut throat lol. i love my merkur DE,you may not be able to drag it all over your face and shave within 20 seconds, but its the closest shave i ahve ever had and a years worth of blades cost me less than 3 mach 3 blades.mach 3 and the likes must be **** themselves when the consider how much there charging suckers to pay for messi etc to be in there adverts.

I too have a DE and just can't get on with it, even if I am careful I end up cutting myself at least 5 times I have tried the running a razor up a pair of jeans and that does indeed work

Merkur DE razor and Shark blades. I can afford to use a brand new blade for every shave if I choose to. If it takes 3 times as long and you cut yourself you're doing it wrong.

Bought one of these a couple of years ago and blades now last me about 2 months instead of 2 weeks.

mmmm, 3 times longer than a couple of minutes, wow you must have a busy life if dont have time. Takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish and get 3 shaves from an 8p blade and i've never cut chunks out of myself.

Works great!

Really, I thought the original brand was razorpit? Not that it matters much as its just a lump of plastic with rubber on it. They do work very well and my dad swears by it.

I've been using a DE safety razor for near 18 months and I've not taken any chunks out of myself.
The only "damage" I've done has been going over spots, but get the same thing with any razor.
The trick is not to use any pressure the weight of a good handle will apply enough force to allow the blade to work.

The shavette I got ... well that only got used the once for shaving as that did turn a little bloody.

Timewise it is longer, but its much more of a relaxing, almost ritualistic thing to do.
For me its akin to cooking a meal vs microwave meal.

Can't quite understand this need to drag sharp blades over your face every day. Why does everyone want to look like a girl?

I'm out off with the reviews.

I have had one of these for past year or so. Really does lengthen the life of the blades. I know there are other free ways of doing what this does but I also use this to store my razor each day.

I can't figure out why people like wet shaving so much, I've tried it a few times, but dry shavers are sooo much easier and more convenient and I get as close as a wet shave.

Some of us don't look like girls, thus we don't need to hide our face behind a beard (_;)

This deffo works, been doing it for years. Turn the jeans inside out though and run the blade against the grain of the denim. otherwise youll end up looking like a smurf! :-)

Poor you.. you need a beard to look like a man

I also switched to DE shaving (another Merkur user).
i rarely cut myself, certainly no more than when i was using a Gillette, but when i do, i use an alum block, just wet it under a tap and wipe it across the cut, stops the bleeding pretty much straight away.
Use quality soap and brush, i use Prorasso soap, it does take longer, but you get a much better shave.
i buy Derby blades (i bought a trial pack of about 6 different blades including Shark, Gillette, Wilkinson sword etc, and found Derby blades were best for me), it costs around £8-9 for 100 including delivery.
Even if Gillette etc drastically reduced their prices, theres no way i'd go back to using them.

It is one of the most natural things for a man to have a beard. Feeling an obsessive need not to have a beard could cast some doubt upon one's masculinity.

Heard about this, I'll buy this time
Thank you

Alum Block
Murker 34c
Proraso soap

for blades, i'd suggest getting a selection pack of different brands and find which one suits you best,
get a decent badger haired brush, they can be expensive, but i found one for around a tenner.

Takes me all of a 5 minutes to do 2 quick passes, I havent cut myself since the week after a started a few years ago.

I spend roughly £8 PER YEAR on blades DE shaving. its a no brainer.

I do this as well, thanks to a youtube vid, defo makes em last longer / stop snagging with old blades

I'm guessing this won't work with Wilkinson Sword Protector blades because of the wires in front of the blade that do the protecting?

(Used them as long as I can remember and can't ever recall having a shaving cut. Although it didn't stop it taking the heads off zits in my younger days. Tried an electric for a while, but they cause ingrowing hairs for me ...)

If you just want to give it a go a Lord DE razor is fairly cheap (amazon or ebay) and cheerful and pretty good, the blades are a personal thing and I've got hundreds and a selection of razors, so I just chop and change. I quite liked the Shark ones myself.

People who cut themselves, probably pressing too hard, they're less forgiving than a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo, but I don't have major issues with them

These are amazing, been using the same pro glide blade for a year now

I have a friend who shaves and does indeed look like a girl. But he doesn't mind as it makes for cheap nights out in the pub and he's getting used to feeling sore in the morning. :-)

Did aftershave lotion not help? I've got a few different ones but don't usually bother, a splash of water usualy does the trick for me.

I have had this discussion before with a lot of dare i say it "shaving snobs" (ohh blaa blaa i use a de merkur badger brush with fancy pants alum block).

We get it, you like the older methods, ive tried, i quite enjoyed it, could i do it every day before work... no because i usually end up having 2 minutes to shave and 5 minutes is 3 too long... and i am in no way singling your good self out - just making a point about the whole de/OMG why are you paying for a mach3 debat.

I digress, those 3 minutes a day extra i would sped would in a year equate (im being extreme here a lot like the shaving snobs do) to some 19 hours of my time. 19 hours of my time, would easily out way the costs implied.

Either way, horses for courses, i'm going to buy a pit because I've heard they're quite good.

H

I use a Merkur DE razor as well. The blades I use are feather blades, Japanese I think, could be wrong.the trick is the pre shave ritual, then shave using the weight of the handle as somebody already typed. You'll find you won't cut yourself. Alum blocks if you do get a nick. All in all its a lovely experience having a proper shave.

I only shave once a week, mind you.

I tried the old jeans trick before and had more niks on my skin in that one shave than in the previous year combined and I'm not that easily cut so beware of using jeans. Bought this Razorsharp and it definitely does work I guess, but not to the extent of the outlandish claims the manufacturers make.
