Thanks for this. Great theme. Very jazzy. Haven’t seen film yet. Hoping it’s decent enough to keep the theme 😬

Ditto, hoping the trailer isnt the best bit!
Looks nice enough, though surely nobody would ever pay for a theme anyway.

Watched a preview on Tuesday - loved it!
I was concerned it was going to be all about the SFX but it turned out to a great movie too
Watched the film and it is good, I wish the current vr headsets were that good in reality !

I read the book and then watched the film, and in the middle of the audiobook now read by Will Wheaton as watching the film made me think I had forgotten the book! however not the case.

The movie changes a LOT but not in a bad way, it definitely works better in film the way they've done it because they dont have time to make all the obscure references and explain them like they do in the book - there are still plenty though, its a bit like wreck it ralph where theres always something to see or spot. The challenges are quite different, (not really a spoiler but stop reading if you don't want ANY minor details) characters meet up a lot sooner, a lot more time spent outside of the oasis, he isn't a fatty, loads of avatars from IPs but some glaring differences - must have been a nightmare for licensing eg no ghostbusters logo on ECTO1, changed who gets the keys etc etc. It stands up as its own story heavily influenced by the book's direction, but very movie-fied, just got necessarily in a bad way.

I'd go see it again in a heartbeat.

I normally watch the film then read the book later that way the experience seems to be better. TV series always stand a better chance of recreating books. The time constraints within any film severly limit what can be done. Sounds like they did a good job though.

Thanks for the in depth response! Im going to try and see it not comparing to the book (easier said than done lol), you are right though it would be super difficult to mirror the book accurately as a movie.
A free advert for my ps4. Pass
Saw the film today and loved it so great to get the theme. Thanks OP
The book is fantastic, treat yourself!
