Real Christmas Trees just £1 in B&Q, Nordman Fir

Went in to B&Q in Bristol today and whilst looking at the real Christmas trees he said they were all £1! They had loads left but at a pound they will sell quick. They were having a strange day because as we walked in a member of staff pulled out some cages of random stock and said all of it was free! Trees will probably be national.

Hartcliffe Store

£10 in my local

£10 national price, store specific may price differently depending on stock depth. Do not appreciate ianyar1470 calling people scumbags, the reprobate.

Why don't the scumbags just lessen the price when normal people buy them … Why don't the scumbags just lessen the price when normal people buy them - then they wouldn't have so much stick left.

I agree that the prices of trees are inflated but traditionally the tree was put up on Christmas Eve, people started buying them earlier to extend the festivities and to lower the prices of trees. Now they go really cheap a week before Christmas. I suppose its just culture changes and demand that drives prices. I think wholesale trees are about £5 so B&Q are probably just cutting their losses.

That would make sense as there was about 100 trees earlier today!

Will all probably sell for £1 tomorrow as its getting closer and they dont want to pay for disposal.

this year i had to buy my tree last minute i tried bbq stevenage today i found two trees first the top half was as bald as a monks halo then the other was half a Christmas tree with crispy bits =p lucky i found woodland nurseries in biggleswade they had half price trees

Can you put these in the freezer to use next x'mas?

I'm tempted to buy one, plant it in the middle of the neighbours garden when they're out and see how they handle it.

They were £10 in Muller Road B & Q yesterday and they had loads of stock

£10 in Stirling today

What stuff was going free?

If they have roots I might be tempted to get a load, pot them and sell them for profit next year at inflated prices. Every little helps. Oops, sorry tesco!!!

A shower unit, skirting boards, random timber, some odds of sets. I grabbed some skirting but I couldn't get too much. I expect it was all gone within ten minutes. Somebody got the shower unit before me!

There were a few small potted trees but I hear these tend to die as they are potted up badly

Are these the normal people who have to go and buy a second tree because their first is dead before Christmas?

All the Christmas tree places around here were selling trees from mid-November onwards. Who the hell wants a tree in November?

Last time I checked they had marked some of the x-mas lights down - but it was not huge savings yet about 1 third off.

Thanks for posting about tree , nice for people who cant afford much. Heat added.

Norman Fir takes about 5-7 years to grow to this size. Someone has to invest in a rather large plot of land and maintain it for all those years. Then you have all the cutting equipment, transport, storage, store profit and various taxes before you pay equivalent of 2 medium pizzas.

I wouldn't call it inflated to be honest.

I bought a couple of potted trees last year from these chaps. Put them in large terracotta pots and this Xmas they look fantastic. Grew around 6" in all directions over the year. Highly recommended. They current have lights and tinsel on either side of the front door. Not bad for a fiver!

Like I said these trees wholesale at about £5 so £40 is inflated from £5 eight times. B&Q don't grow the trees they buy them wholesale.

These went to £5 nationally yesterday.

Not by me thought :((

And while we're at it we might as well do away with the reduced foods section at the supermarket and sell everything cheaper to begin with. No point reducing it before it reaches its expiration date to save on wasteful disposal (_;)

Bought one of these for £10 on Saturday down my local B&Q. Really fresh and for that price you can't complain.

I think people have a tendency to see the end result versus the pound in their pocket and forget where and how it got there and the people making a living in between. I completely agree however, times are tight for so many and perhaps if original mark up was a bit more realistic there wouldn't be tree's going for a pound.

I have heard lots of people unhappy at christmas shopping only to see weeks later a huge slash in price, which is great for bargain hunters and people with time to shop around, not everyone has that luxury though and nobody likes to feel "ripped off". Feels like they haven't got it quite right this year.
