It's a tree, a real tree that grows out of the ground.. how can it be horrible?
More eco-friendly than plastic as they absorb a huge amount of co2 whilst growing and after Christmas they're ground up for compost. Sustainable, sensible and makes the house smell great.

These are cheap for the height, I really want a real one this year but don't know if I dare risk it with a 2 year old .. Heat given

Half that price at JTF wholesale

aldi is more convenient for most people, not everyone has a jtf or ikea close by

Does anyone know whether jtf, aldi or ikea ones are better?

Nice price, but what's the betting that by the time I get down there, all that will be left is this Christmas (sorry, Kweznuz) twig.

The JTF one's I've seen are better looking

Do yourself a favour and research Christmas tree farms local to you. They are more expensive but are cut in front of you so as fresh as possible (and fragrant) and considerably less prone to dropping needles all over the floor.
For me store bought lasts about 2 weeks before dropping unbearable amounts of needles, whereas farm trees last 6 plus weeks (yes I forgot to recycle it one year).

Hey, GazW - never heard of JTF wholesale tried to google and just found this expired domain - jtf-wholesale.co.uk

Can you advise where they are.

Cold. Its too early for this. They wont last and if supermarket previous plant care is anything to go by they wont be well cared for.

We've had real trees since our oldest was 2. She is now 4 and we have a crawling baby, and we're not going to think twice about it.

Just make sure you have an adequate, decent stand for it and you'll be fine. We've got something like this:

ebay.co.uk/itm…555

And it's very stable.

Don't know how people can comment they are horrible when it's the first year aldi have sold real trees!? These are half the price of Christmas tree farms, heat added

not a fan of cut trees, in these times, bought two potted ones three years ago for 15 quid each in my local supermarket and they are still used every christmas, I bring thrm into the garage to acclimatise them into the house....worth their wait in gold, not contributing the the global issues and saves me money too!! win win...

I work at a garden centre and I can tell you that a cut Nordman of that size would be nearer the £60 mark. This offer appears to be excellent. We get ours delivered next week and that is the only delivery (same everywhere). If you buy them early...leave them outside stood in a bucket of water until you are ready to take it in and you will have no problems. A cut xmas tree should be treated like a cut flower...keep it in water..outside and inside and avoid putting close to radiators/fires. The Norway spruce is a little more temperamental and drops it's needles more easily!

Not meaning to split hairs, but plastic trees aren't necessarily worse than real ones. A fair amount of energy goes into producing these trees (planting, harvesting, transport, etc.), and re-using a plastic one might well have a lower carbon footprint than buying a real one every year. Some plastic trees are also recyclable.

And don't think by buying a real tree you're helping the environment, the majority of that carbon stored up for a few years is then released back into the atmosphere when it rots into compost. The small timescale of carbon storage (<5 years) doesn't help mitigate CO2 levels and global warming, and the tree still took fossil-fuel energy to get into your living room, so they're not exactly 'green'.

'Natural' isn't always 'better'. Can't beat the smell though!

Bought Ikea last year put up early and hardly any needle drop when threw it out after xmas
£25 WITH FREE £20 voucher can't go wrong all sizes

Wow . Real xmas trees atre better then fake ones . Class ?

i went down to my local store this morning, the trees were small maybe 5ft but no bigger they are netted so you are not able to see the shape frankly i prefer to go elsewhere and pay £35 so i can get a bigger tree that i have seen in all its glory.

Just got my tree, I think it's the best I've had, brilliant, very happy, local garden centre is 50 pounds

Nordmann Firs £20 at Asda too.

B&q will price match and give you 10% off (18 quid)

Went to get ours 4th Dec and it is 6ft tall and nice and bushy, lovely shape too, so really can't complain for £20 as have paid double that previous years
