I ordered the 12GB/256GB version myself for £390 because at the time it was even cheaper than this version, but now they have dropped the price on this one to £363 (using a fee free card).

This is essentially a OnePlus 7T but in a different skin and with a different UI, owned by the same parent company and with just tiny variations in either a few MP with the camera or the design......But saving yourself £100 even with the recent OnePlus pricedrop (£469 i think the 7T is now)

Just a few highlights

Snapdragon 855++
LPDDR4X 8GB RAM
90HZ screen
50w Charging (Full in 30mins)
960fps Slow-mo recording
UFS 3.0
MiMO Wifi
NFC
Dual Stereo Dolby speakers
Android 10 OTA update ready
3.5mm Headphone Jack!!!!

This is pretty much 2019 Flagship levels of hardware for 1/3 of the price.

2020 Flagships will probably bring 120hz screens, 60w charging, UFS 3.1 etc but for a near £1k pricetag, for essentially 1/3 of the price you'll hardly be missing out on much difference at all

12/256gb for €15 more...
This is iPhone SE competitor 😁
What's the OS like, any experience?
I'm not getting on with my P30 Pro and Emui, so considering my options.
Edited by: "tommytbone1" 8th May
I think the OS is near stock android with few twic.
OS is fine for me, I've had p20 pro before this and prefer this OS but not much in it to be fair

@TallYoda

Thanks.

I'm hoping to get the 12GB version.

The white is available at €439 but I missed out last night on the blue for €430 which I'd prefer - there were a couple left and while I was deciding whether to buy, it sold out!

Not sure whether to get the white for a bit more, or see if the blue comes back again. Not sure how long the white is going to be at this price.
Not helpful but there were some great deals late last night for this on the Spain and France amazon warehouses! One was sub 300 quid!

Thought that the Spanish Warehouse doesnt deliver to UK though?
Got the 8gb blue one for £349 €400

Yes they don't.
Wanted to buy one for €386 12gb and in the end they said they don't ship to UK. Maybe it was good that they didn't. Then i changed my mind and went for brand new.

Could be was just browsing to be honest.
I got the 12/256 model from Amazon Spain when it was last posted on here.
Great phone for the money, the charging is incredibly fast!
No major gripes, OS is fine (I has a OnePlus 5T previously).
OS is fine. Bought the pre-order from Amazon Spain earlier in the year before selling it. Nice snappy 90hz refresh rate - no complaints other than the screen collects dust or debris or whatever the hell, and you literally wipe it off the screen regularly. Gets annoying. Not sure if you had that issue @Simon_Thornhill

Okay I just caved and bought it in white.

Wasted a few pounds I could have saved if I was quicker last night buying blue, but oh well!

Thanks for your advice - looking forward to not having a crappy phone anymore! 😁
I wish to order 12/256GB version, but is that Dual SIM? I cannot find a info that is for 100%...
It is dual sim

This one is really close to stock android. Never had any issues
I bought one too last night and can't wait for it to be delivered, currently using a blackberry ketone with the keys falling off 😄
Had the white 12gb/256gb delivered today from Spain. It came with a clear TPU case and screen protector already fitted! Result! Great phone so far but time will tell. Oh yeah and it updated to Android 10 as well 😁

How long does the company support software updates for anyone know?

No specific timeframe mentioned but i think this phone was released only just late last year and i just updated to their newest Android 10 update.

Hoepfully maybe 2 more years of updates.

If not, they have released the kernel code for developers, so there will be some decent roms soon, an Unofficial Lineage OS is already available for this phone
Anyone know how these compare to the mate 20 pro in real life?

Anyone know how these compare to the mate 20 pro in real life?

Weirdly enough i moved over to this from the Mate 20 pro. Sold it for £250 and bought the 12GB/256GB version of this phone for £385 so only cost me £135 to upgrade and for that price its really good.

Been using it for 2 days now and although its not life-changing different, since the mate 20 pro is already a really decent phone.

This Realme is very quick indeed, id trade losing 1440p over 1080p for having 90hz over 60hz any day now. But for me im more about the performance rather than quality of pixels but this has a super Amoled 1080p panel anyways and you'd hardly notice any different.

the overall performance boost on this compared to the Mate 20 pro i'd say is around the 25-35% mark (depending on your usage), which is noticable, The processor, ram and UFS are all newer generations and even the Wifi and mobile data speeds i am getting are faster.

Thanks for the info, sounds decent. My mate 20 pro is badly cracked and needing replaced any day now. Really hoping for a phone with 3d unlock but don't seem to be many around. Had my eyes on the mate 30 pro but not up for losing official Android auto support. Think I'll give this a shot

The indisplay fingerprint on this i found is wayyyy more accurate and faster than in the mate 20 pro, also the face unlock (although not 3d) is also instaneous compared to the mate 20 pro, i guess this is just down to pure processing power which this phone is no slouch.

The one thing id say is that you can use Gcam on the main sensor on this phone but not on the other lenses (ultrawide) etc so i installed the gcam with the modified settings for this phone and the pics are amazing, if you want to use the wideangle and 960fps slowmo recording etc you can still do so by having the stock camera app on the side.

The phone box also comes with a free transparent phone case, and theres already a screen protector applied on the phone itself so you dont have to buy or put one on yourself (air bubbles lol)

Yes! The screen needs wiping all the time as it does indeed seem to very dusty! No idea why (guessing it's a property of the pre-fitted screen protector?). Also i couldn't stand the cheap supplied case, the only case i've ever put on a phone that makes it more slippery!

Just had the OS update the other day, which has improved it further. Very happy with the phone for the money, only other phones on the horizon i'd look at would be Poco F2 or Pixel 4a (price dependant!).

Have you replaced the case and if so, any to recommend? I've got the phone coming on Friday (I hope). Seen some magnetic cases that cover the front and back so wonder if that will help with the screen.

Noticed you mentioned charging in another thread too - do you have any recommendations on what charger to use with the phone?

Yeah i think its because of the static from the screen protector but i think it will reduce over time. haha im using the free case that came with it and it is slippery indeed but comes in handy whilst waiting for a new one to arrive lol
only found out about the Poco F2 today which seems like a 5g version of this phone in specs but it misses out on a 90hz display.

I got a carbon fibre case from aliexpress. Fits perfectly and the phone is not slippery anymore. Tons of cases for that model on aliexpress.

I use an adapter with the original charger so I get the super fast charging.

Still liking this over the mate 20 pro? How does the build and size compare? Keep coming back to this, but concerned it's not as premium feeling as my m20p.
