How does it work?
If you're a Nationwide current account holder*, you can recommend your friends and family.
You give us a few details about you and about your friend.
We'll email you with more information about the offer which you can forward to your friend as they must complete their switch to us within 90 days of your recommendation.
Your friend can apply online, or they can go to a branch or call us on 0800 30 20 10.
Then your friend needs to open a FlexAccount, FlexDirect or a FlexPlus account AND complete a full account transfer using the Current Account Switch Service - This will close their old account. A minimum of two Direct Debits must be transferred as part of their switch.
You and your friend will then each have £100 put into your current accounts by the 20th day of the month following the month your friend has switched to us.

I highly recommend the flex plus account, it's worth every penny of the £10 monthly charge.
Did this recently, no problems with payment. So far am very happy with Nationwide. Topcashback also applies here.
Just to add, the person who opens their new Nationwide current account (i.e. your friend, family member etc) can get £35 cashback via Quidco or TCB as well as the £100 Nationwide bonus.

The person who recommends you just gets the £100 (no cashback).
I did this last week, hoping the TCB comes through as well.
I couldn't join them because of that piggin advert . Am sick to death of it . All that fuss over a scarf . And who goes on a bus with leather seats ? None of those around here ! Good deal though

Wow . Posh buses you have . Still don't like the advert though.
Did this several months ago. Both of us received the cash on time.
Do they send the link one has to use or use TCB and then provide friend's details in the application somewhere?
Oh and, if there is a way not to close the other account down completely? I currently bank with Santander and they pay 3% on balances on the account!!
if you previously had a nationwide which has been recently closed.. can you reapply using the friend link as a 'new customer?' - how long do you have to be 'away' from the bank? Comments much appreciated
just read the FAQs - works for existing customers too! Just need to keep the account active for 3 months post switch date.

Neither. I guess NW go on the record they make of your friends name and email address when you submit the referral, so best that said friend uses the same details!

NB. TCB / Quidco is reliant on account opening being achieved wholly online per t&c. However, NW required my daughter, who already had a NW account, to attend a branch with ID. Unclear if that was an attempt to avoid cashback or incompetence, but they reconsideted after complaint via secure message.....

HI,

anyone know if its still safe to go via TCB / Quidco for this?
Wouldn't want to forfeit the 2 x £100's for the sake of £25 cashback

No mention of the £100 referral on TCB / Quidco as far as i can see

cheers

Hi yes you can still use quidco. The person who recommends you will recieve an email from nationwide that they forward onto you. You apply for an account via quidco and when the switch goes through they will see you have been recommended and both parties get the £100
