Helps remove harmful deposits
250ml cleans 2 full tanks of fuel

With its hi-tech formula, Redex fuel system cleaner restores performance and helps to look after your vehicle. It helps to alleviate the harmful deposits that build up around the diesel injectors, which can reduce the vehicle's performance.
This 250ml bottle of Redex fuel system cleaner treats 2 full tanks of fuel and is suitable for all diesels, including turbos.
The Petrol Injector treatment helps clean these injectors which in-turn reduces exhaust emissions, restores performance and increases fuel economy.

All they add to Shel V-Power Nitro diesel is 2 Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate(which in fact raises octane levels and works well), my close relative works with that. Which you can buy for a tenner to treat 1000l of diesel and will be a lot cheaper than buy from Shell.
Bottle of Redex has only 2-5% of 2 Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate, other content just paraffin(they call it naphtha):

not good for the engine use more quality products like Wynns or alike but again you need two bottles really to take any effect on a 60l tank

Provide evidence then

All I can say is that the long-term MPG on my Seat LEON 1.6 TDI has gone up by almost 3MPG in less than 2-weeks of using it (and I take a very consistent route and drive 110-miles round-trip everyday using motorways) up to over 63MPG from around 60MPG. The car has also been noticeably smoother. I've only started adding Redex at 70,000 miles and add half a bottle every week (as I need to fill the tank once a week).

Have you had a haircut or cut your finger nails recently as this could account for the increase in MPG?

Is that a lifetime mpg of 60-63mpg? If so that would be ridiculous if you've covered 70k miles already.
If it's just a few weeks average then lots of things could account for that like wind, traffic, tyre pressures etc / less town driving

All I can say is, is that after putting it in the tank on a refuel, my MPG goes up (I check this with the 'MPG since [cold] start' readout). Exact same route as always, but the MPG shows as 70MPG+, compared to pre-Redex days were it was always around 64MPG after filling up the tank and driving down the motorways to work. So, for £6 a month of use, I'm happy it's at least not doing my diesel engine any harm.

Redex is rubbish. Just a money spinner-thats all!
Used it first time two weeks back my mpg has gone up by 5 in average. Noticeably the engine runs smoother and responsive on the pedal is more responsive.
I used it on my van for a tank. And agree noticibly smoother and 50mi + to a tank gained. Not sure I will always use it though. And possibly not worth more than £2
Whether or not it works (and the manufacturer does not provide any hard evidence), this is so often at this price that it hardly qualifies as a deal.

DIY Redex, I'm in!
As far as I know, Shell V-Power fuels are GTL (Gas to liquid) and contain 25% more additives than “Normal” fuels. It’s the fuel I try to use in both our petrol and oil burner vehicles. If I can’t get that, then I put BP Premium juice in. I’ve used Redex in the past, as well as other cleaners, Archoil products have worked very well for me in the past when the DPF was clogged up. But it’s horses for courses! Some like to use these products, and some think they are “Snake oils”

Why would increasing the octane level be a good thing?
It’s good to raise the both of these as it creates a more complete burn so given more power and less emissions..
