I agree, cot bumpers are unsafe, official advice is not to use them as babies can overheat or get tangled up in them.
Quilts should also not be used until 12 months of age either.
I'm not having a pop at the OP, my inlaws bought a set like this for our last baby and I didn't have the heart to tell them that I wouldn't use it. Still in the packet. The fault is with the retailers for promoting these without proper safety information, but for them it's about sales not safety.

I agree cot bumpers are not safe and i do not promote the use of them. I dont plan on using the bumper but its still a great deal if you need the quilts and fleece.
If you must use a bumper then mesh ones are available from purflo (i still would avoid as they are not essential).
Also check out purflo mattresses as they are fab, i used one for the first 18months, they are worth the money for the peace of mind, and my lo slept soundly.
