what is it?

What is it?

what is it?

mixer, good with gin

sheep's wee. use it in modern trucks. it's sprayed into the exhaust when running and it cuts diesel emissions. never realised cars used it too

some new diesels also use it, think it's just the larger engined diesels. it goes in a separate tank and is mixed itself. this would be no good for trucks as the amount is too small.

Is this good for cars with dpf??

Only useful is specific cars. mostly trucks and busses so no idea why tesco started stocking it.

It's specifically designed to be used with only certain diesel engines in cars - usually Mercedes. It goes in a separate tank, not to be added to the fuel.

Yes, but what is it !

We needed some in a new VW Tiguan. If you search for adblue on Google, some local garages have pumps, works out about 40p a litre, much easier and cheaper.

Its an additive that helps reduce the emissions, used in my A4 ultra

Sounds, to me, like a money making scheme to do something that really should be done automatically, to not cost the motorist. A quick google suggests that this may be a required item as part of a service for new cars and the car won't run without it. I may be reading wrong though.

Well I've learnt something new today.
I always thought when I saw the adblue sign on the side of a trucks fuel tanks it was a colouring that was added to stop people thieving the fuel so it can be traced.

Amazing but true. If you have a new Merc, Audi or VW it will stop if you run out of ad blue. You do however get plenty of warning. I buy from the Audi dealer at £1.50 a bottle but not sure how much in ltrs. Plus side is if you buy from them they normally top up tank for you.

Adblue goes into a separate tank on some modern cars and is drip fed into the fuel system, cuts emissions down.
Never seen pumps at garages, but 40p per ltr as per earlier comment is a great buy.
