Rubbish. All fuel in the UK is the same and from same refinery. I had 4 cars and all were on supermarket diesel only and all done well over 190k miles without any problems on engine.
Redex is snake oil indeed, agree.

Tesco fuel damaged my engine years ago, they agreed though and paid for the repairs - so there is some truth to that statement
My fleet of 17 cars only have seen supermarket fuel, have no complaints. All run as they should. You need to service your car regularly and don't worry about fuel much. Only additives differs at different retailers, but this has minimal effect, if any, unless you have high performance car.

you've read all those links and watched all those videos in 29 seconds ?
Same prices at mossas
I don't think it is snake oil, or if it is, its the cheapest version at least. Never hurts to bung a tank or two of this through before an emissions test. At £1 a tank, it will make a cheap supermarket tank into a premium tank

I know everyone says this is snake oil, but I have used it in my previous Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 litre diesel, and worked flawlessly.
Now having the 3.0l diesel in my Touareg (picked up as ex demo with 4000 miles), I've always felt the pick up has been quite lethargic. After driving 4000 miles since, I've decided to add the remaining redex in the tank for the first time, I can definitely feel everything so much smoother.
Just to note, this is a 19 reg car, I didn't want to add anything to the tank, but having just added this for the first time and made a massive difference for me, I will continue to do so.
Just my 2p worth personal experience
Snake oil already mentioned .
I'll go with placebo effect.
Not snake oil
Fifth gear done a test on it. It's on YouTube

That's the first time I've heard the age of content related to being propaganda
My car kept bogging out it second going into limp mode. Thought it would hurt to clean the injectors through bearing in mind they've done 156k and after half a tank it genuinely hasn't done it since. Tbf people hate on them but this BMW has been pretty good to me. Not really wanted for anything. Chain belt driven, rear wheel drive (I'm more a fan of front of I'm honest) lots of cold starts in frosty mornings to respond. Had my money out of it many times over. And from now on will only being buying higher milage motorway used cars

Not snake oil

It's a bit hard to argue with people whether it has an effect on their cars. I've certainly have put it in both cars, 1 brand new and current is ex-demo. The V6 in my VW is pretty smooth anyway, but always felt the pick up from stop is always a bit hard work. The current tank with Redex has made it even smoother, not really noticed any economy gain, but hoping a few more tanks with this will improve it.
Forget this stuff and do it the cheaper better way

Take all your spark plugs out and spray wd40 into the cylinders and leave overnight!
Works!

It can only potentially restore power, Not increase it. That's a common misconception and misunderstood, Most certainly a placebo in your case.

That was merely contaminated fuel that contained high levels of silicon which killed lots of lambda sensors.

In general nothing wrong at all with supermarket fuel. They come from the same refineries and then additives are added at fuel stations.

The additives can make some slight difference however negligible economical value. This guy does a good comparison.

I'm not sure where I've mentioned it increases power, just mentioned about been smoother on the pick up from the stop start. Whether it seems as a placebo effect, I guess I'll be the mug to continue to buy it 😁.

Use HYDRA Fuel 2 EHN 2 Ethylhexyl Nitrate Cetane Enhancer Fuel Additive for diesel

It boosts the cetane level much higher than Redex. There is a little science behind it

Especially on a newish engine that will have little in the way of carbon buildup.

The best thing to help increase fuel economy and performance, Especially on a a diesel is more frequent oil changes, Especially with lots of short journeys. I change my oil every 6k.

Thanks for the suggestions MUFC. Still have a few bottles left (bought a couple of packs from Costco for my previous day), then will look into the HYDRA.

Also bought a couple of Forte to do a DPF regen, will try that out on next tank (not together with Redex).

Cheers

Little tip for dpf regen. If you've got a 6 speed, Drive on motorway in 5th gear instead for probably 30 minutes. Need your revs at around 3k to passively regenerate. In theory the Hydra stuff will help lower the combustion temperature which will aid regeneration. Also when it's doing a regeneration make sure it completes before you switch the engine off. You can usually tell if it's doing one as revs will be higher than usual and fans will probably be running.
I’ve used redex for about 30 years, once I had a rover 416 failed the mot on emissions,I put half a bottle of it in my tank , took it out for a run, then back to mot station for retest and it passed,I only buy it when it’s two pound a bottle though,I had a very old guy tell me about this stuff when I was very young, told me they used it in the war on the spit fire planes and it was spot on,I used to buy supermarkets fuel, however I stopped felt my new car was sluggish, now I go to shell and get there fuel card ,after ten visits you get discounts off your fuel, even free Costa coffee, you only need to put 10 pound in for one stamp sometimes I do it twice for the stamps,my opinion is once you get your shell card it works out roughly the same, when I got my card I got about 2,50 put on it within days , should of got one years back, and you can get your shell card used on products inside the garage , I don’t due to the stuff is way overpriced 😃
