As for OP-feel sorry for you, really sorry...but in other hand, people like you make Redex sales happen, so buy it and support them for making simple, coloured liquid paraffine.

You are quite right of course. I bought some dishwasher cleaner the other day. Tried it, put new load in, and it still took exactly the same time for a regular cycle. What a con.

Last winter the plumber put some X300 cleaner in my central heating system. However, when boiler was turned on, it only warmed up to the 20 degrees as set by the thermostat. I was expecting at least 22 degrees. That greasy chancer is now being taken to court. Bloody rip-off Britain.

Always £2 at different retailers all year round. But does it really works? …Always £2 at different retailers all year round. But does it really works? The answer is NO!

How do you know it doesn't work? What are you expecting it to do?

Placebo effect. Nothing more.

My car computer tells me that I now get 49mpg all the time, whereas before, it told me I was getting 42mpg...for years. How can this be Placebo effect? Same route for years, but 7mpg better off with half a bottle of Redex. Your orriginal comment was ...Does it really works?...Was that a question, and have you ever actually tried it? I thought you wanted advice, which is why people use this site, and why I took time to respond to your comment.

Thanks, OP. good to know where it is £2 at the moment. For @Rimi …Thanks, OP. good to know where it is £2 at the moment. For @Rimi above...Perhaps it depends on what kind of engine you are using it on. I have an 8 year old Hyundai, and was getting 42 mpg on the same routes every day. Adding half a bottle of Redex, I now get 49 mpg. So a significant improvement, and savings for me, at £1 extra per fill.

Good. Same at Wilko's. Also, Halfords doing 20% off their Redex range. Wonder if this stuff will increase my own personal BHP too?
Wether it works or not, it's almost the same price as 99 Ron at the pumps now! Lol

Italian tune up would probably have had a similar effect. If you want to put "special" fuel stuff in your car, use the premium stuff they sell at the pumps, it has been synthesized specifically for engine cleaning and easier burning.
I’ve tried it and I can confirm , it doesn’t work . You are better off getting this

Tried and tested many times. Null effect! And do not trust car computer; fill tank to te full, take odo reading, drive till low fuel lamp goes on and then refill, now record mileage and filled litres and check consumption. You will see Redex has NO effect whatsoever, and you might see even slight increase in fuel consumption.

In a 🚗 hmmmm
I was told by the garage that using this stuff contributed to my turbo packing up prematurely. Don’t know if that’s correct but my car had only done 30k miles. I don’t use it any more.

Or if brave you can use water to de carbon your engine.

It’s hard to say if this works there are a lot of variables weather traffic weight of the car load you cannot day for sure either way without putting a car on a rolling road with exact same condition each time

Even the makers of this snake oil wouldn't claim it can do that - in fact they don't really make any quantifiable claims because they can't. Still, as long as you're happy...........................
Edited by: "Besford" 4th Jul
Redex is just coloured paraffin - it probably does something for the duration it's in the fuel, but as for long-term effects I don't think so. I've heard of garages adding a bottle prior to an emissions test to lower them and pass - in fact one charged me £14 extra to do it
Many ecus monitor the fuel quality and change various things to get the best burn depending on fuel. Suddenly getting a better calculated mpg could mean your ecu has detected what it thinks is a lower quality fuel mix and backed off the timing/mixture/whatever. Audi for example actually tell you they will do this in the user manual. My source : I’m an ecu software tuner using winols
I’d just spend more and get bg44k or redline si-1 and give my car an Italian tune up :-) .
Magic beans
Buy TESLA and get rid of petrol, desiel, and their components !!!???
Is this suitable for my 2018 M5? I think the injectors may need unblocking a bit...

Kindest regards
Homeopathy for your car.
is this suitable for my Koenigsegg Agera RS?
Helped me pass the MOT emissions test. Without it I would have had to pay hundreds. Often this price in Wilko.
Got £2.00 to waste, take the two pound coins, put them in your fuel tank, they will still be there when you need them

If your car can’t pass en emissions test it without this junk it shouldn’t be on the road. No wonder the air pollution levels where I live are over the legal limit.

Increased milage could be due to change of your driving habits, paying more attention to your driving.
Initially when Sweden switched to right-hand driving accidents went down initially but returned back within 3 years. Initial drop came from careful driving.
Redex? I poured this into my Mrs when we were trying for a baby unsuccessfully for almost a year. Dave down the pub said it would work. She became pregnant the next day with quintuplets and we didn't even use the whole bottle. What's more, we didn't have to wait 9 months either, they were born 24hrs later as fully grown adults with IQ of 180 and highly paid jobs lined up. Can't imagine what it does for cars.

Bless you, Redex. Elixir of the gods.
"to make sure we get an accurate result we do the test 8 times and take the highest figure" - whats wrong with these people, do they know even basics of accuracy, precision and averages! I guess they are typical uneducated journalists. I bet the variation in the rolling road (error) is going to be more than the stated result difference between before and after. They dont even take the average of the 8. Take the average of the 8 show us the standard deviation between both do a t-test and I bet the values will be statistically identical. The % increase in BHP is only 3%, I just read that dyno readings have a variability of up to 10% day to day!

You SIR have won the prize for the best analogy in history.
Been using Miller's Ecomax for years and have never had any carbon build up issues with my diesel and its flown through the emissions test year after year...
Snake oil. Modern fuel and cars have no need for this but if enough gullible people are willing to buy it then good for them I suppose.
Does this stuff actually work
