I believe there is the occasional ad in the Global ROM.The phone is imminently going to be getting an upgrade to MIUI 13 with Android 12. It is part of Xiaomis android enterprise program which guarantees security updates for 3 years after release so this should get quarterly android security updates until April 2024.Day to day usage of the phone is fine. No lag from the UI or anything. Battery is pretty good too. I usually charge mind every couple of days but I'm not a heavy phone user. Screen and camera are both fairly average but that's to be expected for the price.I paid £99+£10 top up for this phone in a Vodafone deal in July 2021 then changed it to the normal EEA ROM instead of the custom Vodafone one myself. It's fairly easy to do but as with all ROM changes if you mess it up, you could end up with a paperweight.

Well you got that all wrong! EEA ROM is the undesirable ROM to be on. Global ROM is the one that gets the updates. Good luck with updates on EEA! They will be few and far between. Take it from someone who has converted many a EEA ROM phone (XIaomi Mi, Redmi and Poco) in order to get / apply the latest updates. The majority of the time there will NOT be an equivalent EEA ROM when an updated Global ROM is released not even after 6 months or a year or ever. Ad's in Xiaomi shouldn't even be a thing to bother you! They are ridiculously easy to stop in ANY ROM and any layman can do it. Stock operator ROM to another ROM or EEA ROM to Global ROM flashing is NOT the easiest to do and certainly not for the amateur, be warned.

As for the phone - this IS the price it should always be. Massively overpriced in normal circumstance, So a good deal.
Don't buy it for more, would not be a good deal.

@MrSwitch, what's your thoughts on this phone?

Apologies for not being @MrSwitch but hopefully he'll agree, it's a budget phone, it's got 5g connection but apart from that, nothing flash and at this price it's a decent budget option but as others have commented you wouldn't pay RRP, this seems to be about the going rate.

Need to disagree with you on that one. I’ve had very regular updates on the EEA ROM. The latest global ROM came out last week with an update to MIUI 13 and android 12 so I assume the EEA ROM will be close behind. The global ROM always gets updated first then the EEA one is not far behind, but usually ends up on a later version number than original Global ROM which generally means the bugs have been ironed out a bit which suits me.

As also stated this phone is part of the Enterprise program so it will get updates until 2024 every quarter

Yeah, compramises to screen, charging time, RAM, camera and no waterproofing or wireless charging and probably more .

But it's a £115 phone with 5G and 128GB storage. It does the job fine for every day tasks. Horses for courses.

I guess the big question is, what phone within about £50 is better? I don't know the answer to that. Xiaomi themselves seem to bring out new variants weekly!

I'll be interested to compare it with the Motorola G8 Power which she has at the moment. I have a POCO F3 and a POCO X3 PRO which I purchased at the sale prices. They are both brilliant and incredibly competent mobiles, so I'm willing to take a chance on this one. Here's hoping anyway. I agree with you on the amount of variants of mobiles that Xiaomi keeps bashing out, it's a full time job trying to keep up with them!

Keep us updated, let us know how you find this vs the F3 in a sort of one extreme to the other comparison, will be interesting to see how cameras compare.

Yes that's a very good suggestion! We've all read from different review sources how the camera results seem to differ widely from one model to another, so it'll be interesting when comparing the F3 against the Note 10. I'll also do some comparisons between the X3 PRO and the Note 10 as well.
