I always work on the logic that a phone like this gets me 80% of the performance for 20% of the price, and that's good enough for me.

There are 3 versions of the note 8 (currently!). This one is the top 'Pro' model and has the G90T. Then there is the normal 8 and 8T variants which have the Snapdragon 665. The only difference between the 8 and 8T I've seen is that the 8T has NFC.

The Note8 Pro has the Helio g90, a phone more made for gaming, and the redmi note 8 is more of an iterative upgrade on the note 7. Then as below the note 8t with NFC

Ahhhhhhhh. There's to many to choose from!!! I've no idea....help!! I won't use it for gaming. Just want a good phone under £200.
How does fast charging work on these Xiaomi phones if they dont come with a UK plug?

I'm thinking exactly the same....... I don't do gaming, I'm not to sure I want NFC on my phone for security reasons so I guess I'm left with the redmi note 8 normal global version????

Just use a UK adapter. Fast charging will be fine

This phone is not really just for gaming, it's just got a chipset capable of handling intensive games (it's about on par with last year's flagship chipsets such as the snapdragon 845).

Nothing wrong with the normal note 8, especially if you're not too bothered about performance or NFC....and you'll save yourself a few quid!

This is the best chip they've made and has been well reviewed. Check out Techtablets XDAs or C4Etechs reviews on YouTube
Very tempted for my youngest to play Fortnite at this price can’t see anything else rivalling it anywhere near this price.
Hows this compare to the latest Samsung's/iPhones etc?
Are they as powerful, reliable etc?
Should i get This or s9+
Bought this last week for £200. It's not even arrived yet..

80% of what performance though?
I'm looking to upgrade from an s7 edge, it *looks* as if it's an upgrade but I've no idea whether it's a reliable phone or something that'll last for 6 months and go bang...
ARF I want this for the camera... But I don't like this nonsense of MUI, I want stock android.... Arggggghhhh

They are saying the chipset is on par with the snapdragon 845 which is in the Galaxy s9 region so it should be an upgrade on the s7 edge, whether you would notice massive difference in the real world I don't know.
I've had no problem with the build quality on xiaomi phones and I got my first about 2.5 years ago but they are cheaper end of the market phones....

i used to use samsungs, i loved my samsung note 2, was perfect, but after a few years it became sluggish, probably newer updates to apps requiring more newer hardware. i wanted the note 4 but was ridiculous pricing. i found the redmi note 3 (i think) was roughly same spec and fraction of the price, was fantastic, power was there, only limitation i had was i couldnt stream to my tv as easily (samsung phone to samsung tv was flawless). The build quality felt a little cheaper, but with a glas protector and a rubber case due to the aluminium back feeling very slippy, even on newer phones, this didnt really matter.
Then look what happened with the samsung note 5....
if you are happy to trial a cheaper phone with flagship specs then give it a go, drop your tariff down to sim only, if you are not happy just up the tariff again and haggle for a handset..
I definitely don’t need this phone, there’s nothing wrong with my Redmi Note 7. However, I do really like the look of this phone in white and the price seems like a steal. Ho hum.

Just go for it, you'll get most of the price back if you sell your note 7 on eBay.

The GPU isn't even close to the 845 so it's gaming performance is way below, same with the snapdragon 730, the GPU in these SOC's are 821 tier. The cpu however is near 845 tier
Is this a better buy then the mi 9 lite deal?
Bought this and the note 8.
Christmas sorted.
Have some heat
What do we recon, worth the change from a redmi note 5 pro?

The battery has now become a big problem with my 5 pro.
I've not doubt it's xiaomi doing what other large companies are doing, an update that suddenly causes the battery to drain, making customers look at upgrading.
What does customs duty and vat paid for the eu by dhl mean? Paid by seller already and included in price or paid by buyer to dhl on delivery?

Assuming this is a smidgen better than the RN7, absolutely fine in the right conditions unless you put it next to a flagship phone. So don’t do that & you’ll never really know what you’re missing.

Unfortunately I dropped my RN7 a while back so it’s got a few scrapes including one small chip on the screen and I think perhaps it did a bit of harm to the speaker too, unless it was always too quiet and I never noticed before. Either way I don’t think it’s sellable so I’ll likely hand it down to our lass as a burner. Might wait to see it this comes down further towards the end of the year:
