Reduced Food Now at M&S - Scotland & N. Ireland

M&S have now started selling food which goes out of date that night at a reduced rate. I was in shopping tonight and saw a number of items with 'reduced' stickers and asked an assistant what it was about.
She told me that it started this week and food is reduced late on in the afternoon. She said it is a staggered reduction system but most things are roughly half price.
Seems hot to me.
(This is a trial in Scotland and N. Ireland and if successful, will be launched elsewhere.)

Tesco have been doing this for years.. but good to see M&S following suit. everyone loves a food bargain

Good stuff!

hot, hot.............that a good news

Been happening in supermarkets for years, and not just stuff that is going out of date that night.

M & S used to send all their stuff that was out of date that day to homeless shelters and kitchens, so not so good for those people

This has become a legal minefield. In this culture anyone will try to make money at someones expense, regardless of their responsibility.

Great post - it's about time customers got to benefit.

Typical, I was in M & S tonight an hour before closing time (late night shopping) and didn't go near the food bit. Thanks for posting.

I have seen this, on a few occasions, in their Kingston and Beckenham branches. It's great when it happens.

guess where i'll be going an hour before closing :whistling: knowing my luck they're will be nothing left:p

This is not just scraps it is M&S scraps..

As a student i use to go to look at the reduced section to see if i could pick up some bargains , but always managed to find a very fat person quickly stuffing all goodies in there trolley & not letting anyone else get a look in .....use to really wound me up lol
Or either some local business man seeing what he can grab for his store

Unless your lucky most of the best stuff has already gone before you get there.

This is not just scraps it is M&S scraps..

Very good...........

Told my mate who works at M&S about the post and he said that at Eastbourne store they had to get security to break up fights at the reduced counter. Blimey!

actually marks and spencers have been doing this for years however for the last year or so it has been withdrawn due to many stores not following correct company procedure.

ie one store would sell for half price
another quarter price
another take a third off

this is time consuming and the staff will not be pleased as they dont get chance to buy it if they dont get a late break

i dont think it will last

enjoy whilst it does
