Nice one. Heat. Never read pratchett. Do you need to start from book 1 or can you just dip in at any point.
Excellent books. Prob best to read in order if you can because some do follow others but great either way... Heat

Start with Men At Arms. Order isn't necessary and his earliest ones were a little rough and not particularly representative.

I've reread them a bazillion times. Sometimes I start from book one and work my way forward, other times I read each trilogy / grouping (Witches, The Watch, Death etc). Other times I just grab one and read. Honestly doesn't matter. Brilliant books.

Cheers. Will grab that one as well. Looking forward to a cuppa and a good read later.
Just a couple more to be released and I'll finally have them all in hard back to go with my tattered old paperback collection

Agreed, the watch series is always a safe recommendation. I've come to love some others later which I didn't appreciate so much at first

Or Guards Guards, which is before Men At Arms in that sort of "subseries". So the might have been a controversial choice, but I think the books flowed impeccably by that point and I'm not sure if any of them other than Night Watch absolutely require others in the series to understand.

There's lots of debate about this. A good start is the link below. I personally think the first few are some of the weakest, so would suggest either Guards! Guards!, Going Postal, or Wyrd Sisters to see what you think.

Seems I have opened a can of worms. Cheers for the link. Will take a look.
I miss his writing so much.

Have you read the The Long Earth books, not as funny as his discworld books, but still pretty good.

I'm slowly building up my Pratchett kindle collection. I would pay the full price, but I've already bought them all on paperback, so I'm holding fire and snapping them up as they come on offer. Should be done by 2022 at this rate

Didn't Amazon US make it so you could get the kindle versions of books you'd already bought for free/cheap? Wish Amazon UK would do the same!
Start with Guards guards, or nightwatch if you wish to get to know the workings of Ankh via the footslogging Sam vimes & company, once you've got those under your belt you can move in any direction imho!
Not a fan of many of the witches books, however the swansong of Terry's writing (a witch book) had me tearing up having read his books since the late 80's.
If you don't read from the start then you don't get the build up of the background characters that pop up regularly in each book, there are things you will smile at in later books because you remember a reference to it in the earlier books. Especially CMOT Dibbler. I started reading them from the beginning and couldn't imagine doing it any other way.
On of TP best quites in this, 'There's no Justice.''. 'No, there's just us.'

I was lucky enough to share a lift with TP many years back. A truly great man.

Yes the first two. Struggled and gave up on the third.

I gave up on the first. It just never went anywhere. "Oh here's another description of a lifeless area"

I enjoyed the first one and have the second but haven't got round to reading it yet.

I've fallen behind I'm supplementing my existing hardback set so try to pick them up when reduced, but have a good few to catch up on.

Also buying the new Kindle versions though, of course!

I haven't got many on kindle, I really need to pick a few up as there has been some going for really cheap lately.

My son has read, and loves, them all so I'm trying to pick them up on Kindle as they are reduced. It'll take a while before we've got all of them though!
