Reduced Virgin Atlantic Upper Class seats Orlando - Gatwick various dates available inc school holidays

Found 31st Oct 2014
I've been looking at flights for next year to Florida and found that Virgin have reduced there upper class seats.

I found various dates in July and August that have the return leg of the flight starting from £769.70, this is only £29 more than Premium Economy

Some dates have limited number of seats left, but the dates I have put in the link had enough for a family on the return.

If you're interested, outbound seems to start from £928.74, again this is only £28.50 more than Premium Economy

Dates I searched are out, 22/07 and Return on 04/08

Seems like a great deal to me to be able to turn left when getting on the plane and not right

Following dates have Upper Class seats available at 769.70 on Orlando - Gatwick

21/07 22/07 24/07 26/07 27/07 28/07 29/07 30/07 31/07

03/08 04/08 05/08 06/08 07/08 11/08 19/08 20/08 21/08

I think you need to amend post to mark clearly this a price for one-way.

£1600 ish for return in upper is great price, but you could sit in economy for 8-10 hours, save that money and spend it on this instead... disneyworld.disney.go.com/eve…es/

Having flown in all classes for business, I really don't know why people pay such a premium for a larger seat for what is essentially a day or night of their lives. I think I know which one of these experiences would probably make your holiday more memorable.

Good deal

really hope his galactic thing works out ok

10 and half hour flight back from vegas.

the extra money for premium economy is well worth it

Not enjoying Virgins reliability.. Will skip this thanks,

That's a pathetic thing to put - nothing to do with it

I fly a lot for pleasure, having flown in all classes on numerous airlines. I think a bad flight can eat into your holiday, wasting a day or two while you recover, and in effect costing you more than the cost of a better seat.

So for me its a great deal!

Virgin upper class lounge is worth the extra money alone, it's fab in there!

I agree, they just know your name, better food, better seats, really don't see the fuss, as u say sooner spend money on enjoying my time on the holiday rather then the extra cost of bit more extra comfort and manners.

I have also, recover from what? yes nice to have own space without being squashed next to someone and especially if that person is annoying, but it don't take me 2 days to recover from it, jet lag can happen no matter what class your in, I cant sleep in either class... I do admit though I do try avoid economy If I can, but not if I don't have the extra funds spare & feel like a treat.

Although credit due this is good price if you want to go upper class.

I get what you are saying.

For my family of four an extra £3000 on the cost of a holiday for a comfier seat is difficult (for me) to justify.

I suppose its all relitive and depends on your disposable income.

A lot of cash to most people, but I can perhaps see the benefit on a return flight.

For me the real downer is coming back - the lack of comfort / room to sleep for a few hours, and feeling rough for a couple of days as a consequence, so maybe it's worth the splurge for that reason?
Edited by: "badgerman2" 1st Nov 2014

does it include a space helmet and parachute?

No but the seats are going like a bomb.

I got enough air miles to upgrade myself and virgin even do door to door service with fast track security and it is enjoyable and takes lot of stress from things, but like someone say it depends on what your budget is, no matter what class I am in, being stuck in such small space for any long periods drives me mad, done lot longer journey's and I cant sleep no matter what the comfort level.

Even had free upgrades before it does happen now & then.

Although I do wonder why such the big price difference to standard class when all your really paying for is extra comfort and service

Possibly one of the most idiotic posts on HUKD, well done!

I've been to Florida 4 x and would never pay that one way ! By far go economy , spend the cash at premium outlets where a pair of timberland jeans goes for £20 ! Carry an empty case going out , have fun !

If i paid £1600 for Upper Class - i wouldnt be impressed if it was full of kids!

The last time I flew first class there was some little s**t walking around, because his dad was in it and he put the rest of his family in economy. Don't blame him though.X)

i flew upper to new york last year, it was pretty much free due to my virgin miles, and personally i wasn't that impressed, which is ashame as i was really looking forward to it.

however this is a hot deal so hot from me

Same for me in April this year. The lounges at Heathrow and JFK are fabulous, the steak on the plane delicious, the staff fantastic, fast tracked through security and the plane, good but not great. For what was a romantic break, you're rather isolated on the plane in upper class from your neighbour. At least on BA club class you can drop the partition. Clearly geared to business solo trips, which was a shame.

oddly i was gonna say pretty much the same.

i was traveling alone so didn't mind being in my own pod however the couple sitting opposite me wanted to sit together so the young lady sat on the ottoman in front of her boyfriend for most of the flight.

the lounge at lhr was nice but i did find the staff a tad snotty and i also struggled to get their attention for some service.

the food onboard was very nice but not life changing.

You can make economy seem like business class if you drink enough beer/wine/spirit.

We are a family of 4, wouldn't even concider spending £6500 on flights. Went to florida with cosmos in June, flights, luxury villa, upgraded SUV came in at £2500, 2 week disney tickets, photopass, 2 week universal tickets plus all the spending money came in at £3500 - £6k in total. Yes we flew with Monarch, not a memorable flight, but the rest of the holiday was. Economy isn't a problem for us as we're all 5'8" or shorter

People can be so selfish. We had a couple plonk themselves in our seats as they were right in the nose of the plane and in effect virtually facing each other - what really wound me up was when the flight attendant asked US to sit elsewhere!! There was like a couple of seconds of silence before she realise that wasn't the plan.

Same for me i think its alot of money for what you get u could probably book a row of 3 seats each for the same price so a family of 4 could have 12 seats loads of space , i always go economy and dont like it much would like the extra space and not having to sit next to someone big who spills over into your seat but just have to think all the extra money over the holiday you have to spend

£1,600 worth???
It must be b100*y amazing!!!

ive flown economy and premium with virgin and both are so similar I dont get the fuss, plenty to eat and drink for free long haul, personally prefer material seats to leather, and as for leg room its not enough to care about.

but for the money id love to try upper class.

£1600 return to Florida per person is ridiculous. We are going to Oz and Dubai for 3 weeks over Xmas and new years. Paid £625 each return! So my wife and I are travelling for £1250. Add in £300 for 3 nights in a top 10 trip advisor dubai hotel, and it is still less than it costs for 1 person to fly to Florida. Any couple or family would not pay this price. It would be stupid!

If you want to go in the lounge at LHR (which is pretty flash) you could instead try Virgin Guest List. If you are two people flying in economy or premium economy, it costs £320 per couple. For that you get one limo journey (eg. from your home to LHR or from JFK into NYC), access into the Virgin Upper Clubhouse, Upper Class check in and fast track security and your luggage labelled as Upper too so it comes off the plane first at the other end.

I have flown a lot of business class with work in the last couple of years but would never pay for it myself, however on a trip to the Far East via Dubai even with business it killed me, and it wasn't as far as Australia, Aussie was always on the bucket list but not any more after that trip won't be doing it in economy that's for sure

Virgin Upper is good, but your money will go a lot further when you're actually in the states and could potentially make your holiday so much better for the duration, not just a few hours stuck in a metal tube as a means to get from A to B.

Bear in mind you wont get access to a Virgin Clubhouse flying return from MCO as there isn't one and all flights returning from the N.America are night flights. i.e. £800 for a sleeping bag and dodgy seat:)

Agree, if you're going to pay for this, then I'd go for the outbound, you get the LHR clubhouse which is nice and the pickup /drop-off included. Arriving at Heathrow on the Virgin car is the best bit. Also agree that it's not suited for couples, BA club is better for that. The A340 and 747 they have are getting old, but the service is very good. Had afternoon tea with macaroons and sandwiches once, that was lush.

If you're wearing Timberland jeans then the chances are that you're unlikely to be the sort of person that would fly upper class.

Flew to Barbados on this airline in September, worst flight ever, the food would have been rejected by Battersea dogs home, and the most uncomfortable seats ever.
I would not recommend this flying nightmare to ANYBODY!!

I just had a look at their lounge and it looks really nice. Way better than BA's offering in T5 which is a bit of a cattle market.

Virgin have gone downhill so fast since Delta got involved. They used to be a good airline but are now below average.
