I wonder if you can use the existing Meross app. I’d hate to download another app.

I have these and they work fine in the Meross app with my other Meross devices. FYI, your Meross login also works for the eHomelife app, its the same company, and the eHomelife is just a rebadged Meross app (same UI).

Are these generally safe? Have some Samsung ones that spark a bit 😬

If your samsung ones are arcing around the plug pins, I would contact Samsung and ask for a safe replacement even if out of guarantee, as not fit for the purpose. From a quick google, it looks like it is a known issue with some version(s) of Samsung smart things plugs community.smartthings.com/t/s…201 I would have expected them to be of higher quality! If samsung decline approach the retailer for a refund (not fit for purpose under consumer rights act)

The scorching around the live pin receptacles in the photos in that thread would suggest to me that the contacts in the receptacles don't make adequate contact with the plug pins, possibly they are malformed, and are loose from day one, or the metal is not springy enough and deforms with use.
You'd also need to check and replace any plugs damaged by them. (edited)

    £24.99 for a 2-pack of their energy-monitoring ones amazon.co.uk/dp/…812 & £42 for the 4-pack amazon.co.uk/dp/…G44 - seems expensive?
Similar ones from other brands could be had for much cheaper, but check all the specs & functionality carefully - 'smartness' may wary. (edited)

Does energy usage go across into Alexa? ie can I ask Alexa for energy usage?

Just got these as I’m trying to move all my devices to HomeKit where I can. I have Tapo ones (4-pack), also have the energy monitoring Tapo ones (2-pack) will be selling those off now. One HomeKit to rule them all.

Which energy monitoring ones are you looking at buying? I've settled into using the Smart Life app, so Tapo etc are no good to me either
