This is the new version of the YouView set top box. It will record in both standard or HD to its 500GB drive. Catch up TV is available for all main network channels (BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and 5 on demand) which you can access by search or through the on-screen daily programme guide. The box itself is about the size of a small hardback book, quiet in operation, and very efficient in standby. For those who want the nearest Freeview equivalent you can get to the convenience of the Virgin Tivo or the Sky box offerings, this is the best choice out there. You'll need a steady 3MB+ broadband (ADSL is perfectly good enough). Also, you can be with any broadband provider - this isn't restricted to BT. You will need an ethernet or PowerPlug connection.

** Until somebody confirms from the Ebay seller this could be a T2000 (slow) or T2100 (faster).**

Bargain, this is the newest Youview box, the Humax T2100.

I got one recently and it's just excellent.

Is wi-fi built in?

Is this freeview only or can it be used to replace a Sky+HD box? I only subscribe to sky at the mo to use the recording feature of the sky+ box (mainly to record from the main 5 terrestrial channels)

If its anything like the effort Talktalk supply i wouldnt touch it .. Dam the thing is slow... Press a button and it takes like 5-10 seconds to actually do something .. If it is responsive as it should be then good deal

T2100 cant be what TT supply then, the response time blew me away. Fast and snappy!

Great box, the Youview OS takes a while to get used to when coming from sky.

Great box and a good price but please be aware the seller clearly states Manufacturer Refurbished!

I got this box after dumping Sky and switching to BT and Netflix with unlocator (great decision BTW- never missed Sky, but I'm not a real football fan- I save 20 quid a month). This box is fantastic and it is a bargain. Compared to my Sky box which regularly locked up, this has locked up once in 10 months- and that was when it had done a firmware update. It has no fan and is totally silent. It's about a quarter the size of my Sky HD box. It's very snappy with a powerful processor- just great. And no, TalkTalk don't supply this box- just BT and it is the latest Humax.

Thanks for posting, bought one.

I own a second hand Talktalk Youview PVR 320gb, which contrary to an earlier post is not slow, and will do all this BT box will do.They are readily available on Ebay for £40 brand new. Mine is hard wired to my Virgin broadband and it too can record two channels at once.
BBC 1,2,3 HD, ITV HD, C4 HD. Why not save yourself £60 or more

I have the same Talktalk box and had it for over a year, it was fast when I first got it but it isn't now

I've got a youview talktalk box and it's terrible. Painfully slow, doesn't work on internet channels, despite 29 mbs fibre, and the customer service is shocking, and i do mean shocking.

Purchased one of these last week, tried watching a youview catchup channel and it stopped 4 times, and that is with 30meg broadband, eventually managed to watch 85% of the 1 hour long show but what a ballache it was.

I have just left sky and bought a similar box, best decision I made too....but I do miss movies. What is netflix unlocater please?

Whoever is saying the talk talk boxes are fast are either smoking something, or have a lot of patience waiting for it to do something!! I had x3 talk talk boxes, all shocking!! Freeze when I fast forward, lots of trouble... Moved to BT got this box and it is 100 times, better, faster excellent quiet little box nippy.

I don't use unlocator, but use unblock-us instead. What you do is amend your DNS setting on your router so instead of using the one provided by your isp (normally the default one) you use a special one which essentially makes Netflix (or Hulu) think you are in another country like the us for instance. Netflix has different content depending on which country you are in so this feature is very handy (you still use your UK account to log in), services like Hulu are only available in the US so this is potentially a way around it. If you are interested in Hulu google powerseller and Hulu and you'll find a guide.

Blockless is a good alternative to unblock-us, they have just added new countries as well.
My favourite Netlix is the Netherlands one (no subs and english language for most stuff), followed by Canadian

Would I be able to get BT Sport on this? I have BT Broadband and get it through my internet connection but would prefer to be able to record stuff.

This box is much quicker than the older Humax and talktalk box, I upgraded and it made youview a much better experience, ignore the slow box comments!!

Can I use this abroad? eg spain or turkey thanks.

Will this work if I have sky fibre optic ? Not on BT

Thanks

We're seriously contemplating dropping sky too. We have sky+ hd on multiroom so the cost adds up. It's a lot to pay for what seems like adverts for about 20% of the viewing time.

Jumping to netflix sounds like a plan, but we only have 4.5Meg download speed and fibre isn't coming to us anyime in the next 2 or 3 years, ( I know someone locally that is in-house and knows the fibre roll-out plan) so 'switch to fibre' isn't advice that will work for us. I've been trying for about 3 years, it's not available.

Anyhoo, am I likely to destroy the tv through frustration, or at least vocalise some expletives with a 4.5Meg download speed or will that be adequate?

Any advice gratefully received.

Very good deal especially with 6 months warranty. Some hints (I'll be back later if you have any questions).
Works with ANY ISP (needed for a. firmware updates and b. if you want to use catchup**)
Is NOT Wifi (buy some homeplugs)
Provides acess to HD FREEVIEW
No tie to BT at all.

Issues:-
1. always on by default; change power settings so that the disk switches off when not is use (takes a minute to startup)
2. very weak tuners BEWARE a good digital aerial is required; masthead amplifier recommended

Otherwise a top deal.

** catchup
Provides exactly the same as the excellent Nowtv box (iplayer, itv,4 and 5 catchup) which is, of-course, wifi.

Yes.

Don't have an aerial but do have twin sky feeds will this still work?

Have cancelled Sky and only use them for BB and phone now. But still miss the recordings of it.

all I would say about this deal is that you can beat the price and get a brand new one on ebay, if you are happy to just buy from a person selling theirs rather than a buisness

Nope....

I was in your position, and had to cough up for a digital aerial to be fitted

This is a Freeview box not satellite. You will only get the catch up and on demand services with this box if you don't have an aerial.

I bought a HD 500gb Digitalstream box off eBay and it's fantastic. cost me roughly £50 and it's never missed a recording. the box is pretty ugly though and it's got no catchup TV.

Or buy a Freesat box, with Freetime if you want catch-up.

For those who want to save on the expense of Sky or Virgin, this is a good, free (apart from the initial purchase of the box and home plugs) alternative. I've had it installed for about six months now and it has been fast, responsive and trouble free so far - and that's on simple ADSL broadband from PlusNet. The YouView guide is easy to use - it's simple to record a single programme or a series or to go back a few days to catch up on a programme you have missed. Perhaps it's a bit irritating not to have a Wifi connection, but at least I've not had any disconnection issues. This with the addition of Netflix will provide a huge range of video entertainment for very little outlay per month.

I bought one of these from Amazon just 3 days ago! Anyway, I'm delighted with it, I specifically went for a Youview+ box as it allows remote record via an iOS or Android app. It's excellent.

Bargain at this price, despite the fact it's a refurb.

Bought x2 Humax DTR T1000 youview boxes , both went faulty within 4 months of each other , and the same fault , the HDMI o/p board !! both returned and refunded !!

Bought a talktalk DN370T box , and its been awesome !! brand new on Ebay ,, £45 saved myself over £££££ in the process No slower than the Humax boxes were, infact far faster startup time than the Humax boxes ,

The only way to speed up the Humax startup was to keep the HD spinning in the settings , but if you turned the setting off , then you couldn't remote record !!!

Where does it say what modle it is ?

It doesn't. I'm saying what model it is because I've got one.

I moved two years ago and bit the bullet by dropping sky and buying two ( refurbished ) boxes from humax direct. They cost £400 at the time but two years in work brilliantly. Record two channels and watch something else. Picture excellent and records / series links just like sky. They are brilliant.
