Hi Guys

I seen this a while back but didn't have a chance to post. Ive used MCS before for a Venue 11 tablet and the service was great. I needed a spare laptop and went for the same one linked. Limited stock, but plenty of choice.

Decent spec for the money but no OS on this one:

Inspiron 15 3521
1 Yr MCS Return-to-Base WTY
Intel Core i5
Intel Core i5 3317U 1.70GHz
6Gb
500Gb
1Gb ATi Radeon HD 7670, Intel HD 4000
15.6″
HD 1366 x 768
Webcam
HDMI
DVD-RW
2 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0
Waves MaxxAudio
8-in-1 Media Card Reader
Bluetooth
WiFi

I personally got a cheap version of 7 that upgrades to 10 for £15 and installed a cheap SSD. The i5 in this seems like a quick little cpu and for the money I thought it was a decent deal so thought I'd share.

Various other versions on the site too, a few example:

Dell Inspiron 15 3537 Cel 2955U 4Gb 500Gb 15.6″ for £122
Dell Inspiron 15 3521 i3 3217U 4Gb 500Gb 15.6″ for £136

Bought a Dell 18" XPS tablet 18th Feb from MCS, through their eBay store (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/mcstechnologyltd/) , delivered 20th Feb. Delivery comms were great - delivered promptly within 1 hour time window - very happy so far.

Tablet absolutely first class - looked like new and packaged very well - box was bloody huge

Had a problem - user error on my part - Mark Simpkins from MCS was great (think owner but could be wrong), very courteous, understanding and patient. Sent an email and reply arrived within minutes, every other email was the same. Even when diagnosed it was my error, very courteous and professional reply, no judgement or condescending - lot of other companies could learn.

6 months on absolutely delighted and no problems whatsoever - hope that help n your decision making.

1366*768 why why why is this still the default offering with so many laptops?

May be. I didn't want to make individual deals for each one but if you look at the other variations you can some cheaper than this with say an i3 or no dedicated gfx

On Dell laptops, sometimes they are inside, under the battery (worth a look )

Anyone know how the battery is on these 1YR warranty refurbs? It says the 30 day warranty ones may have reduced battery life but says nothing about the 1YR ones, so does that mean the batteries are pretty much as good as new?

1: Cost, if you want a 1080p you will normally pay at least £350-400
2: This is a refurbished model not and not a current range.

Anyone know what sort of physical condition these are supplied in? I assume they show signs of wear but I couldn't see a grading system on the site for the condition.

hi all i would just like to ask you all what should i pay for a laptop and what type of laptop i should get , i will only be using it to browse the web and watch films on it and stream films and sports also i will not be doing any work on it , i will only be doing the very basic things but i want one that wont lag , i will be playing games on it now and again like skyrim or football manager , , i just dont want to be paying too much for a laptop that i wont test too much , any help would be appreciated thanks

Agreed. I know that specific model is out of stock, but loads of other ones cheaper or more expensive depending on exact spec

Mark Simpkins is the owner (it's not hard, run the company at Endole) and can vouch for them having been dealing with them for over 10 years. MCS won't be the cheapest or 'best value' but you'll get the best service and usually that's worth paying for if things go wrong. Anyway, for refurb Dell machines, other than Dell direct, it is worth looking at their stock.

Little note as OP pointed out, a lot of the refurb stuff has the licences revoked so you'll need to add the cost of this in and source copies and COAs yourself (this isn't a case of just not installed, the SLIC in the BIOS is missing and COA physically removed) - I'm sure there's a valid reason but I never cared enough to look.

Went with this for £300 because of the 1080p screen and decent gpu. Hopefully it is good.

Just opened mine, comes installed with Windows 8.1. Awesome piece of machine for the money.

Well got my laptop and the S key is almost completely unresponsive and the Z/V only slightly better. the keyboard under the S has been prised up dented out under the S key in what looks like an botched repair job.

They must have knew about it because I noticed it after about 2 minutes so I'm pretty unhappy. Looking at the returns and it says I pay postage and a 20% restocking fee, what? So £70 to return a faulty product what a joke.

I even need a RMA number just to send it back. I'm so confused by that so I need to contacted dell before I can send it back? Wtf

Well laptop came and very impressive delivery ,even provided live updates of where the delivery driver was and when he would arrive.
mine has 8Gb of ram instead of the advertised 6GB which was a nice bonus not sure if everyone's will but hope so.
The unit itself looks new with not a mark on it, battery came with 95% charge and windows indicated that would last 6.5 hours of general/light use so doesn't appear to be worn much if at all.
Very impressed so far just need it too last :),thanks again op its just what i was looking for and a better spec than i thought my budget could afford without going down the ebay route and hoping for the best .

Just email them direct and they will sort it out.

You seem to be reading something to do with Dell which isn't the seller here, maybe paperwork left in the box or something?

I was just looking at this.

Within 30 days of receiving delivery of the product, the buyer must notify us that the product is faulty, then return the product to us at the buyers expense, an item can be returned for exchange only (refunds at the discretion of the management). Incompatibility is not a valid reason for return, a re-stocking fee of 20% will be charged.

An authorised RMA Number must be obtained before any item can be returned.

Yes. He said he will send out a replacement keyboard today. Hopefully that will fix it and it will be easy to replace.
