This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Refurbished Acer desktop with 8th generation i7 8700 CPU - you'll want to upgrade the ram and add an SSD but for the CPU alone this seems very cheap. Yes it's an Acer and not a gaming PC and it will have basic power supply and motherboard but I think it's a great cheap way to get an 8th gen i7 CPU desktop with a very impressive benchmark.

I've been mulling this over and haven't yet bought one as my 2012 i5 desktop won't die and still does everything I need... hope this might help out those looking for a higher end cpu for lower end prices.

A mixed bag of components this, high end CPU with low end memory and mechanical hard drive (with intel optane 16GB). The CPU seems to sell on its own between £250 and £350 and is a 6 core / 12 threads / 12MB cache

  • Processor - Intel Core i7 8700
  • RAM - 4 GB
  • Operating System - Windows 10
  • Hard Drive - 1 TB
  • Optical Drive - DVD-RW
  • Warranty - 3 Month Warranty
  • Form Factor - Tower
Can you fit 1 of the new style SSD
I can't remember the name
Not SATA
Can't even load the page to have a lool so I'm guessing it's getting a lot of traffic for some reason

nvme SSD I think you mean?
I believe the intel optane 16GB card will be using an M2 SATA connector which I think can be removed (it's not needed for SSDs) and put an M2 SSD in that slot. However I am guessing at this and cannot guarantee it'll work. Needs some checking online.

It can definetly have the existing 1TB hard drive replaced with a SATA SSD Drive.

hmmm works for me fine
I think this is the motherboard it uses, non standard.... has 3 x SATA and 1 x M2 by the looks of it and 2 x memory slots.

Decent option for someone not interested in games, I think?

yeah similar to me really... occasionally video editing and 4K is a struggle, otherwise my old PC flies on daily chores. This i7 CPU is more than double my i5 3450 benchmark.

Like a muppet I hadn't tried desktop site yet can see it now
Well, I've ordered - thank you. Feels like a pricing error given the processor. We'll see, I guess. Thanks a lot!

Interesting choice of a propriety mobo, especially as its looks tiny to put in a tower. Do we not know the PSU like? I can't see any spec on that.

It looks like a standard ATX although the motherboard is a custom size for the case

Yes I thought it might be a mistake and I've been caught before with Laptops Direct having no stock despite taking orders even after telling me the item wasn't available then they try to upsell to something else. I hope it is legit.

Hmmm out of stock, looks like @furq might have got the last one in stock!
Anyone that bought this needs to look into replacing the cooler as the intel one is useless for i7's

Thanks. Do you have a recommendation?

And do you think it needs replacing for normal use - not high-intensive work or overclocking or anything?

I use a noctua u9s on mine which is cheap but effective but I'm not sure if it would fit in this case. I do use mine for gaming. For regular daily tasks I don't think u need to worry

Ok, thanks. I was looking at sizes. They are huge.

Anyway, will see how I get on. Thanks again
