Seems like a deal to me, unless I'm missing something. Closest on eBay (from a well-known seller) is PC World at £249.99 - ebay.co.uk/itm…759

Tesco Direct has it (new) at £349.00 - tesco.com/dir…prd

One thing putting me off is the mediocre screen resolution (1280x800). Does anyone have experience with one of these?

Nope but got the galaxy 10.1 original tab that this is essentially the successor to. The tab 2 and 3 10.1 were made to be more mid end devices whereas the note is now the high end device that the original tab 10.1 was.

Resolution on the tab 10.1 is okay for most things but not brilliant for high def video playback. The note is slightly better in the CPU dept but not by much. Expect a certain amount of lag over time, especially as apps auto update while you use the tab. It's not the most adept multi tasker.

The new note 10.1 is considerably better.

Tempting!

Seems pretty good. Disappointed at the screen resolution, wonder why they did that? To make it cheaper? Because it's not cheap

I remember reading somewhere that they had to compromise the screen res for the s-pen, not sure why!?

Got one a week ago, and can honestly say that for the S Pen, any compromise on resolution is worth it, but I've not noticed it being sub standard at all (or 'lower res than id expect for the money).
Granted I don't use an iPad with a retina display regularly (but I do have an iPhone 4) . I can only say the screen is much better than my old Motorola Xoom.

The S-Pen is a fantastic bit of kit. The handwriting recognition is great- for example I have written this entire post rather than type it!

Glad to help! For me it's the bit of kit I've been waiting for, and I can't afford the new 2014 model. Ideally I would have wanted 3g (like my xoom) but I tether it to my iphone and it works a treat. Battery life is excellent, but I haven't found a decent case that ticks all of my boxes yet. Keep an eye on Cex (webuy.com) for the note keyboard - they sell it for £22.50 delivered which is really cheap.
