Really not a fan of the X1 Carbon, and this version's the worst of the lot. Horrible touch ribbon on top & no caps lock.

Detailed review from Notebookcheck available as above for the same model (but the model on test includes WWAN and WQHD screen which this model won't have).

Beware the pros and con's they point out for the 2nd gen X1 which polarised opinions of even the most hardcore Thinkpad fans and there are reliability issues that make it hard to warrant it holding the TP name.

So's my i5 2500k but it's still quick as ****

Caps lock: just double tap the left shift. No biggie

I really rate Thinkpads - have 3 at home, and have owned the non-carbon X1 a few years ago.

We use to have this V2 model on our work hardware list, but were removed from the list after way too many failures.

Not even Full HD, and no touch screen. Nice CPU, but remember that this is the U version, which does not compete with the M version. Good deal, just not for me.

If you mean the i7-4600U then it's a Haswell chip so not that much behind Skylake generally; increases have really tailed off year on year.

I had a T540p at work with that style of keyboard and touchpad. The keyboard was OK, although getting used to the layout took a while. I hated the touchpad, just awful.

You're dating CPU like cheddar cheese again.

Firstly think why they are a refurb, I use an X1 at work and I have had 3 replacements from Lenovo in that time and now on the 3rd gen and it is still no better 3 replacements in less than 2 years is a sign of big problems. We have over 100k people in our company and this laptop has been removed as a preferred workstation because of how unreliable it has been. Now waiting on my replacement machine which is not an X1 and I can't wait!!!

100K people in a company, you leaving in a chinese factory town or something? did you build the laptop off of scrap pieces? that would explain why it doesnt work... j/k

Which laptop would you recommend for running data intensive spreadsheets and cloud based applications

I worked in IT and we also had to remove teh v2 X1 as it was rubbish

same here, we went from HP to lenovo, and they have been hopeless, nothing but problems... looks like lenovo have jumped the shark, with these issues and the spyware stuff, long way back for them now...
