Great price for the spec. ChromeOS is more than enough for most people to do everyone with on a daily basis. This model also has the google Play store installed, so you can install Android apps on it (including Microsoft Office apps).

Look out for the amazon warehouse deals on this, with the 20% off I picked up a used like new for £230. Also I personally have found amazon a lot easier to deal with for returns. I had a faulty refurb HP x360 from LD and I had to jump through hoops to prove it before they would let me RMA it even though I was within the 14 days of purchase. I ended up having to pay for return postage, and they didn't refund the postage paid to receive it...

Bought a refurb R13 a few weeks ago from laptops direct. Mint condition save for a very, very slight but distinct dent in the lid. Bummer. I would have returned it but they had no more stock and i preferred to keep it as the R13 is so good for the money. Obviously not suitable for heavy computing but excellent at what it does do. Access to the google store is the big game changer. 13" Full HD screen looks great, instant on, battery lasts for ages (i'm getting approx 10 hours), plays every video i have thrown at it. Surprisingly good at light office work and can happily work with Microsoft Office documents (Microsoft have not enabled the official android Word and Excel apps for chrome - i wonder why??).

It is easy to see now that Windows 10 is far too cumbersome, bloated and slow for many light users. Factor in the touch screen and that the 360 degree hinge so that it has different modes, one of which is too act as a huge (if slightly ungainly) tablet - great for reading pdf mags etc. Highly recommended.

Agree with topazz but too heavy for tablet use
(my 14" laptop from work with an i5 processor is lighter)
and keyboard is not the most comfortable, some flex makes it feels slightly mushy
BUT... For that price it is really good

Mine was like new, do you know how to check the battery cycle on a CB?

Not thought about it before. Just googled it and tried a few things. Cannot find a reference to an actual battery cycle count but found a useful link here:

Followed the steps outlined to 'check battery health' i.e. unplug AC adapter, set min. screen brightness and disable all chrome extensions then ran the test. Result for mine was Battery health 90.15%. Discharged 0.50% in 300 seconds.

You got a problem with yours or just curious?

Thanks, just like to know how many time it's been charged before and general condition, wouldn't you like to know that?

Go on then. Run the battery health test and let's see how it compares.

Currys now have this for £299 - up to you if you think it is worth an extra £60 for brand new with 12 month warranty.
