Me too. Still struggle to replace it years later (there's better CB's obviously, but pricier too).

If you want something for web browsing and watching netflix, it's hard to beat. 12hr battery life and 360 rotating ips screen.
Yes these are excellent for the price. I would expect these 'refurbs' will be reboxed unused, still with stickers on - the 2 we bought from amazon warehouse a few months ago were.
Hmm harddrive is not upgradeable

Had mine for 3 or 4 years, don't think I have a single thing on the hardrive (aside from the OS and few play store apps).

*That's not to say other people won't have different needs.
Is this touchscreen?

If you can get intel based windows 10 laptops for £115 why are these dam chromebooks so much more expensive! and this is refurbished.

Link? Tbh chromebook are basic but having had this for a few years now I've used it for general surfing, uni work and media consumption so it covers what 90% of what people do these days. You get a great IPS 1080p display which from what I've seen you have to pay over 400 quid for a windows laptop with a similar screen they are mostly ugly TN displays at 300 to 400 quid. The aluminium build is also something you won't find on a lower priced windows laptop so this has premium build. Also the battery is amazing(10 hours+) and it still holds the battery after a few years of use which I can't say the same for Windows laptops. So it depends what you use it for I personally prefer Windows over it however for students it's fine for everything they do.

No all these windows laptops have 1080p IPS displays. They have the same purpose as these chromebooks and are significantly cheaper. Also before you question the longevity of these laptops i bought one almost 3 years ago (an ezbook 3 pro) and its used daily for media and office use and to output onto a tv via the hdmi output and its doing fine. Chrome is supposed to be a free OS and MTK chipsets are crappy and cheap so the price of the chromebooks should be much much lower i wont ever consider buying one until they come down to a reasonable price and this isnt it.

No offence but I've nevr heard of that company and going off comments in that thread it's nowonder its a low price. Tbh this acer also has a HDMI port and it charges from the USB c port with fast charge so that's anorher positive. Like I said it has some positives but I much prefer the windows OS.

Chinese company using western hardware for its laptop im living prove it lasts. Acer using chinese hardware with a free OS for a significantly higher price and its reburbished so it obviously got returned for a reason. I know which i would go with.

The Acer Chromebook 15? It does have touchscreen 100% and Aluminium casing. It's not a cheap Chromebook at full price, usually around £350 to £400.

I bought one of these for my daughter, and it's fantastic. Next to my £500+ i5 HP laptop it is another league build quality wise - the case, the screen, the keyboard, the battery life, even the charger. Makes the HP feel like a creaky bendy little toy. If it weren't for the limitations of a Chromebook (not being able to use Office) I'd use one of these every day of the week instead. Despite the chipset it is still more than a match for media and streaming. Your theoretical views are fine, but they don't take the reality of using and living with the device into account. These come up periodically, there is a reason the almost instantly sell out... Couple of my mates are waiting for one, having tried my daughter's. You would not have been able to tell it wasn't brand new either, but for the non original box. Will be interesting to hear from the few that managed to get one of these, once it arrives.

You missed my point entirely. If there's a product that does everything this one does and more but cheaper then this product is pointless. Its not worth the price because there's cheaper options out there that do the same thing for a lower price and brand new not refurbished which is a shame because I want to try out the chrome OS I'm just not going to pay the price these things fetch because they aren't worth that price not so long as there's windows 10 laptops out there that do the same thing and as I said at a lower price. Also Chromebooks work with the android play store and play store has Microsoft office.

Like I said for day to day use this acer has :a better battery (12 to 13 hours when new now around 8 or 9 hours after 2 years of use!), better screen(IPS, better sgrb so better colour saturation, higher nits in terms of screen brightness, better viewing angles etc), aluminium build throughout and not just part like some expensive laptops, touchscreen which could be useful to some, can put it in different modes like tent mode, tablet mode etc which is useful. Combine all this you have the perfect laptop for basic users like students who all they do is surf online, use office, media consumption so overall it does 90% of what users do. Not sure why your arguing this should be like £120?

Comparing it to alot of Windows laptops after 2 or 3 years of use the battery life decreases so much, IPS displays like on this chromebook are very rarely found on windows laptops below £400, most Windows budget laptops are also poor build with plastic this chromebook has aluminum build throughout and looks way more expensive then it is. The negatives for the chromebook are the OS (but that's the whole point of chromebooks it's for basic use), can't install many windows apps too which could be a problem.

I think you missed mine mate - what you say on paper is logical but it's not a true reflection of living with the device. This is worth every penny for the reasons I stated - limitations of the os aside (thanks for the note on Office BTW - also need remote desktop though), it is better than the laptop I paid double the money for. You're making a mistake writing this off. There is nothing that I'm aware of that can match these for the combination of price, functionality, and build quality. You might find one or two of those elements in another device, but not all three.
